Can the compression shirts be black? Or do they hv to be white. D someone write that
 
Bear in mind that black or navy may show through white works. I would caution to go with white or nude if possible. I'm sure someone else may have in person experience with this. I'm just a Waldo hunting mom.

In 2019 Black color compression shorts was not an issue - even with White Works.

I'm assuming that it's the plebes personal backpack filled with their personal stuff (sneakers, underwear, etc...). They'll store the few personal items they have in their rooms when they arrive later on I-Day and then the detailers will store the now empty bags somewhere in the bowels of Bancroft. But we all know what happens when we assume.

they get their bag back when they move into their room - might now be day 1 but they get soon enough - mine got hers pretty quick and was happy to have her things - black compression shorts are great - mine loves Lulu lemon compression shorts so she brought those - they were all black and dont show through the whites - the plebe summer white uniform are thick!!!
 
Compression short color for plebe summer is not a big issue becuase everyone is required to wear USNA shorts under their white works. The color only really matters when wearing summer whites.

And for summer whites, the best color for underwear or compression shorts is gray or, how you say, “nude.” White actually shows through and isn’t particularly attractive — so they say. 😬 Gray and “nude” blend into the, um, background.

It goes away. It gets boiled (training for what a ship’s laundry does to your clothes, especially anything white). It comes back.

Once PS is over, there are machines midshipmen can use. Midshipmen will use USNA laundry service, the machines and kindly sponsor family laundry room.

How do meals work? How’s the food from Bancroft? Are there any alternative cafes or restaurants for mids on the yard? Are you able to order food to the yard? Favorite place to eat when you have the opportunity to get out? Can mids cook?
Any food related info you feel like sharing would be appreciated …

This one is best answered by current MIDN's directly. I can give a parental view but the first person view is best option. However be warned that COVID has wreaked havoc on King Hall (dining hall in Bancroft) and also on access to basic food prep items---microwaves and hot water. There are times my DS thinks the food is good, sometimes adequate and sometimes down right lousy.
 
@GottaServe2026 For the spring semester they increased the amount of budget spent on meals for midshipmen. The food has been really good this second semester and it honestly was not terrible first semester. There are other things in king hall like a salad bar/cereal if the meal is just not good. There are many places to order food nearby and typically I’ll order food like once every twoish weeks. Lots of mids order out often, but it can add up over time, so I focus on saving up money. You cannot really cook here, but my company sometimes cooks pancakes or grilled cheese for everyone.

We also don’t have to pay for our food. Many universities you can spend up to $15,000 a semester for a meal plan that is arguably a scam with how bad the food is. It may not be the best some days, but I’m also not spending a crap ton.
 
You can order food to the gate any night of the week, but I recommend only doing it on Friday nights because delivery problems can take up a lot of your valuable weeknight time.

This just crossed my mind, what if you get thirsty in the middle of the night? Can you have a water bottle by your bed? At hone we have the habit if drinking a full glass of water as soon as we wake up. It does the body good I heard
