Trying to distinguish the difference, if any, between those who were deferred to regular admission and those who have already received scholarship offers.
I think Objee has posted here that the first CGA scholarship offers will not be tendered until February.
As long as you have not received a "rejection" letter you are not rejected.
A deferral is not a rejection!
It is simply a "not just yet, let's wait and see how you stack up when all the other applications are completed."
Some candidates who are deferred will look great when all is said and done, they will be offered full appointments.
Some who are deferred will be offered CGA scholarships (prep) to help them better prepare academically for an appointment to the next USCGA class (2014).
Some who are deferred will be put on an "alternate/waiting list." They will be selected/not selected based on the number of appointments previously offered that have been declined by May 1st.
Some who are deferred will not look so good and will be rejected.
The final decisions can come as late as the 3rd week of April. Don't give up hope until the "thin letter" arrives.
