My SWAG is that even if you have a very strong profile, i.e, SAT's over 1400, Great Grades, Varsity Sports, Leadership etc. , you still have only something like a 1 in 4 chance of an appointment. It's a crap shoot. All you can do is do your best, have a Plan B, C, D and even E. And, what will be, will be.
