I also attended the LEAD DVP back in September. I recently emailed one of the LTs, and she said that all LEAD candidates should expect to hear around the end of March and the beginning of April.
It is my understanding that there are 50 slots for Prep School, 85 for Active Duty and 85 for Reserve/Air Guard.Hey guys!
Prior Preppie here at the hill right now. It has been an interesting year. I wish you guys all the best of luck. I was one of the lucky ones that was notified in January. Anyway, don't freak out if you see a letter saying that you didn't make it. One of my friends got this letter, but that is a letter saying you didn't make it to the hill. A prep school appointment can still be on the way! =D Typically, if you get accepted, you're commander will be the first to know. They like to let your commander be the one to tell you.
From what I'm being told, this year is going to be even more competitive than last year. I was told that we were the first class to fill up with priors. The admissions office said that if we all make it to the hill, the admissions office is going to try and open up more slots just for priors.
If you guys have any questions, I know Vermeylen posted his email, but you can contact me as well. p12james.walsh@usafa.edu I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can.
Am I correct in understanding that the LEAD applicants have a separate Board from the 'regular' applicants? Do they have the same schedule? i.e., meet on Monday, send out BFEs on Weds, etc. ?

Just checkin in. I'm stationed at Creech... one of the most desolate bases out there...
My original plan was to apply for the class of 2017 but it turned out the admissions office extended the deadline for the CC nominations. My application opened 1/25 and was officially completed 3/2 (really more like 2/20 but it takes them forever to process stuff).
Different board, and they like to call the SQ/CC so they can tell you first. This is probably a much better way to hear the news instead of the BFE.
These next few months are going to be rough... I'll either be leaving for upgrade training in June or I'll be leaving for the AFA, hopefully the latter.
Good luck to all!

You didnt by chance do your CFA at the Nellis gym a few weeks ago did you?Stationed at Nellis here. There's another guy on these forums who's stationed at Creech as well. Interesting to see how everything turns out with all of us clustered in the same geographic location.
Thanks, Nate! I thought I had read that somewhere, but wasn't sure. It would not surprise me if they had the same schedule, but who knows? We should see some direct appointments beginning later this month, and then the Prep appointments for Cadet Candidates in April and May (and even June!). Hopefully, there are some LEAD candidates lurking on these forums that will post when they get their BFEs. So far, I have only been able to identify maybe 5 that are hoping to receive either a direct appointment to the Class of 2016, or a Prep appointment.Yes, All LEAD Applicants are under a separate board. Though I have not heard anything as far as if the schedule is the same, I presume it would be the same process, since its just a different board dedicated to enlisted applicants.

Welcome! It is helpful to know you are not alone.....Just found this page and the discussions. My son also went to the Academy, for the visit in September. I am (not) patiently waiting to hear anything about his acceptance. Glad there seems to be others who feel the same way.
Good luck to everyone and glad I found you!
