Well, don't be discouraged if you don't get notified on March 2. According to the LEAD Handbook (http://www.academyadmissions.com/img/assets/PDF/USAFA_LEAD_Handbook_2011-12.pdf )
all LEAD applicants are automatically considered for PREP (assuming you are age qualified, i.e., not going to be older than 22 on July 1 this year). Obviously, they notify the Direct appointments first (during the month of March) and after all the slots are filled, THEN they begin sorting out who gets a PREP appointment. Some of the PREP appointments will not come out until late May, depending on how many they offer and how many are accepted. This means that if you are eligible for the Class of 2017 as well as the Class of 2016 ( i.e., will not be age 22 before July 1 this year) you still have a chance, but you may not find out if you have an appointment until the end of May.
