Leaders Encouraging Airmen Development

I received a message telling me to check my portal, jumped onto my supervisor's computer and we brought it up together.

Definitely and awesome way to find out.
see, those folks at Admissions are still working on itl It is a very hard job and they are short handed, so bless them for their hard work!:thumb:

Hah, I know. It was quite an experience.

Also, is anyone else having problems loading the portal webpage or usafa.edu in general?

Saying prayers of thanksgiving for your news

In a simply fantastic turn of events, I have received an appointment to the Air Force Academy Prep School.

I don't know how it happened, but obviously I have many to thank.

I had just gotten through explaining to my supervisor why I didn't get in when the news came.

This has been an emotional roller coaster of a day. Time for it to sink in.

Thanks for all your support and kind words!

Wow.... what a day you've had. Sad news turning into INCREDIBLE news!!!!!!!

I just got home and read through this thread to get caught up and yours definitely is the BIG story of the day. What a turn of events.
I'm so very happy for you and all those hearing of their acceptances to USAFA Prep.

CONGRATULATIONS for a job well done. :shake:

I will keep praying for those of you waiting. But, If you don't get the news you want, dig in and don't give up. Stay focused and motivated with your Plan B, because most of you can try again next year and there will be more slots and that is a very good thing.

There appears to be a failed DNS server at USAFA. You can reach the portal with this URL:

https://173.201.18.40/secure/online/

You need to click past the warning about the certificate, but it should work after that.

The login page is there, but as soon as I click 'continue' the same error occurs.

It's not that big of deal. I'm still in disbelief and really just wanted to look at the words again.

Thanks!

I just spoke with 10 CS (the Comm Sq at USAFA). They are aware of the outage, there is no ETC for the repair at this time.

That's truly awesome man. Congratulations.

Congrats to everybody man, I'm waaaay excited right now. Everybody at work is approaching me and talking to me about it. The more I talk about it, the more antsy, anxious, excited, impatient I get. Welp, just waiting for that good ol' BFE now........

still pulling for you guys

Was hoping to see more LEAD appts. Hang in there. It is most likely that there will not be much more appointment activity until around May 15.

USAFAPS

Hey everyone, I see I'm a little late in this discussion... but I'll be seeing some of you at the the P! I'm currently in the middle of my second deployment, but I recieved notification from my Commander that I would be attending the Prep School this year. I saw the change in my portal, saying "Air Force Academy Prep School (Scholarship Offered)." Still haven't gotten my BFE, but I expect it'll take a little longer to get here since I'm not in the States. Should be getting out of here any day now, in order to be ready to leave on time. My ALO is working things on her end to make sure everything is good to go.
Since we're all active duty, does anyone happen to know how TMO will be handled for household goods? Not sure what the best route would be. I've also been told by another Prior friend (now a 4th year cadet) that cars are in fact allowed at the Prep School, though I'm not sure if that's changed since he went through.
If anyone has any input, I would appreciate feedback! Congrats to everyone who got a direct appt or a spot at the Prep School!

Congratulations! here is a link to the class of 2012 Appointee Info package:

http://www.usafa.edu/superintendent/pl/Incoming/11Package.pdf

The class of 2013 Appointee package will likely be sent today, to the address on your Portal.

There is no permanent storage for your household goods at the P. I recommend you make arrangements for storage at your base. I believe that they will also ship your goods to your home of record, which may be a better alternative.

I do not believe that any motor vehicles of any type are allowed.

Awesome, thanks for the information. I'm looking forward to this stage in my career!

A little late, but congratulations!!!

Hope we see some more LEAD candidates with appointments...

Definitely!

It's amazing how inactive this forum is now that almost all of the appointments have gone out.

"sure is quiet out there." I think they really need to wait until after May 1 to move forward. I figure about 750 offers have been sent out so far. Most of the remaining 300 are more or less pre-allocated to LEAD, current Preppies and current Falcon scholars. If the 81% acceptance rate holds, they will have another 150 or so appointments they can offer. They probably have a 100 or so on the waitlist, so there are likely just a few dozen they can work with.
