March Madness... rears its ugly head again

UCLA has a hometown kid who is a force to deal with. Lonzo Ball! He'll break Gonzaga!

He has two other brothers who are just as talented

The tournament is always great to be sure, but what makes this year's tournament even better is that there are NO super teams. Each of the one and two seeds has shown their vulnerability and weaknesses so this will be anyone's to win.

Should be great watching for us fans of this terrific venue!

Rule Number 1 - No crying on SAF when your time falls off the ledge.

OK, I admit it: I do love watching the crying cheerleaders when their top-rated, super-star teams crumble to the 16th seed. Doesn't happen often but I'll crack open a Yuengling and park myself in front of the TV for that happy moment. :)

Nevada's in the Big Dance for the first time in ten years! Go Wolf Pack!

...and I don't ever remember South Carolina being in the big dance, let alone as a #7 seed. Too bad they'll lose to Duke in the second round, but then someone has to lose to Duke in the second round... Carolina might as well have the honor.

Fun fact -
Until yesterday, there were 5 of the original D1 schools that have never made it to the NCAA tournament.
With Northwestern going to the big dance this year - that leaves 4: The Citadel, William and Mary and St. Francis (NY) and Army (sigh).

No super teams? How about UCONN Women. Although I was amazed that they only have nine dressed players and coach said that they can be beaten if one thing goes wrong it will be a great tournament for them.

Well, OK, UCONN-W has been the very face of women's bb for a decade now. And, they are truly great, a powerhouse, almost unbeatable. And it makes for dull basketball. I might watch the final but unlikely to watch the women's tournament. Go ahead: call me sexist. I am just not as interested in watching a 64-26 game for two hours. (OK, I'm also mean)

But I have watched some of the games this year - and enjoyed watching some who'd-have-thought-it-would-be-that-close-with-two-minutes-to-go contests.

I didn't realize Army had never been. Still remember David Robinson playing for Navy.

I know, I know Mich... I am still counting the days till STEELER FOOTBALL begins, but one must have these tiny diversions in life, no?

Yes, Liangelo and Lamelo Ball will be coming soon to join Lonzo!
Lonzo is a one and done - he's gone after this year. And it wouldn't surprise me if the dad steered the other kids to the most advantageous college - in other words who offers the most. Then again I'm cynical about college basketball. I think the one and done makes a mockery of the student athlete concept - NCAA rules don't even require them to go to class after the end of the first semester, so they do the minimum in Fall term the blow everything off. Ben Simmons even admitted never going to class.

I got SC losing to Marquette in 1st round. Sorry bro.

Well, it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings. Marquette is playing a great game but the Gamecocks are hanging right in there. We'll see who laughs last! :D
EDIT: Just a 1 point game at half-time!
