Mids told not to return

Holy Cow, there is a meeting during lunch today at USAFA. More info coming I imagine. I just realized MIDS are on spring break, cadets are not yet, I have a feeling they may not be leaving....time will tell

Headline of this thread is misleading...the email DS read to me said to be PREPARED for updates. The email doesn’t say ‘all mids, don’t return’. He read it to me. More info to follow. They will be asked to take a survey. Then more to follow again I suspect.

Don’t add to the panic.

NAPSters returned to Naval Base Newport from spring break yesterday 3/11. I suspect that their weekend off-base liberty will be restricted indefinitely.

Yep, Dant has said he will provide further information to the Brigade later tonight. Word on the street is mids away on spring break will not return until the end of the month at least. Restrictees in Bancroft are also stuck until then. Those mids with no place to go are of course able to return to Bancroft as a last resort. Classes may still be on via remote learning methods. This mirrors what many colleges in the region are doing. Plan is all subject to change obviously.

+1. Let’s be responsible and not unnecessarily add to the growing panic. DD read the note to me. There was no clear and definitive declaration made, beyond “stand by for an update in the next six hours.”

I read the email. It says do not return today, tomorrow, Saturday, or Sunday. Further orders coming.

The title doesn’t say do not return ever.

And for the record - I included a picture of the email but it was too large to post.

The panic is fake anyway. I don’t buy this hoax.

Maybe I get to spend more time with my son. So not so bad.

My mids email says straight up not returning to Bancroft Fri, Sat or Sun. Go shelter in place, details in 6 hours

No --it says that Midshipman not in the Hall "should be prepared not to return to Bancroft Hall....." That is different than DO NOT RETURN. That means start thinking about contingencies...which everyone should be doing anyway.
Attention to detail is important in the military.

What if you're not in CONUS? Say, for example, you went to Cancun for spring break . . .

Maybe the military should be clearer. That was the first sentence.

The last one is “if you are in CONUS, you are directed to hold/remain in place”.

I read it as do not return and be prepared not to return. Further instructions coming.

Not the first, or last time, that a military directive is not crystal clear...but here's a hint (and it applies to those asking questions about USNA application, PTR packets , etc), the military is usually pretty direct in its communications --you get what you get, don't try to interpret or read between the lines. Hold in place means exactly that ...don't start your travel back to the Hall until you get further direction.

LOL. Hence my not so crystal clear title “mids told not to return”.

Of course they have trained my son to follow orders. Something he didn’t do before induction!

Hopefully they can return soon. This kid eats a ton now.

My plebe is in Pennsylvania at a retreat and I would love to be able to bring him home. However, home is in California and unless he is told to stay away for a week or more, it's just not worth the $$$. Hopefully they will get a time frame.

I do not see the purpose of posting this. Our kids are getting the e-mails. We parents are not. Our kids will know what is going on. If we need to know what's going on, our kids will let us know. No reason at all to post any of this.

What are you talking about?
