I believe everything about Top Gun 2 (and 1, for that matter) except for the part where Maverick bails out into the snow-covered terrain and lands within sprinting distance of Rooster. I mean, c'mon! They were both flying at hundreds of miles per hour and bailed out at different times, and yet, "Hey, there's Rooster. I'm going to kick his a$$!"
I get that Mav was bitter about what had happened. Who wouldn't be? But he did come around and accept the outcome. Instead of stewing in cheap resentment, he embraced what lay ahead. I believe he set a very good example for those younger than him. We all should be so mature and magnanimous, rather than taking potshots at what might have been.
