Forgive me is this has been asked and answered before.

Was in AFROTC during freshman year. DoDMERB qualified. I dropped because I simply didn't want to pursue the Air Force any longer and Cadre recommended Army ROTC but I wasn't sure at the time. I am graduating soon and want to explore OCS for the Army, Navy, and USMC. I know it doesn't necessarily look amazing in an interview and I am sure I will have to disclose that I was in the program. I was not medically DQ nor was I kicked out for anything like bad grades or misconduct, I just wasn't interested in the Air Force.

Will quitting AFROTC as a non-scholarship cadet prevent me from pursuing OCS in another branch?

Is AROTC as a grad student an alternative?

Thank you.

I don't think it's a barrier as long as you voluntarily dropped and didn't get any"bad paper." I think it's reasonable for a college freshman to change their mind about USAF (or any other branch) and then find they still want to serve and lead as an officer. Which service interests you the most?

My brother commissioned via Navy OCS after dropping NROTC sophomore year in college. No barrier. With recruiting struggles in so many branches, I would think you have a good shot. Suggest putting in for the branch you want most first. You wouldn’t want to get a slot from Army and be waiting on Marines to decide if you really prefer Marines-just my opinion.

The AFROTC drop shouldn't be an issue, particularly in the current environment where all the branches are having a hard time getting people.

I can't specifically speak for the Air Force, but generally there are not A/N/ROTC opportunities for grad school. There are ample grad school opportunities once you're commissioned though.

Army OCS. Try as soon as possible. If you are physically fit as hell, maybe Marine OCS.

After getting your BS/BA degree ROTC is not possible.

Good luck!
