Official USAFAPS (Prep School) Class of 2013 Appointment thread

Congratulations Caligirl.. My DD just received her letter of acceptance today for Prep. I asked her if she was going to accept :) I know... and they say there isn't any such thing as a stupid question???

Haha! I would ask the same thing though, knowing the answer...:wink:

Was the letter of acceptance in the BFE, or separate?

Her LOA was separate. I guess once she responds back, they will be sending her "THE" packet? Not sure what is really being mailed out, and what the kids are SUPPOSE to be receiving?
 
A1C Rob: No, I am not prior enlisted. I am a high school student. My online status reads: "Air Force Academy Prep School (offered Scholarship)" I'm sure it will change after I send everything in.

2bornot2b: Basically there were three copies; all of the same document, on acceptance/declination. There was also a paper with basic information, basically everything we have already read online, with a letter of congrats. Also, the government covers the plane ticket.

I don't think this question ever got answered. Twice as many LEAD appointments were posted as directs. LEAD only gets about 20% of the slots normally, so I was surprised by the numbers.
 
Parent's weekend

I received my Prep school acceptance letter today. At the bottom of the last page, it suggests that parents come to Parents Weekend not inprocessing. Does anyone, who has already gone through this, agree? My parents have other kids who live throughout the country and feel like they can only come to Colorado once this year. Just not sure when is the best time. Thanks for the input!
 
I-Day vs. Parent's Weekend

Congratulations RocketWoman! I can only tell you, that my daughter requested we say our goodbyes at the airport, and spend our money to come see her on Parent's Weekend in September. I myself, would rather give my daughter something to look forward to, than to have her more stressed with separation anxiety on I-Day...actually... it would probably be ME MORE stressed :-/

I admit I have not gone through it yet, but hope to in a few months. In-processing is just one day in the middle of the week (18 July, Weds.), whereas Parent Weekend is a long weekend (Labor Day Weekend) and there are opportunities to spend time with Cadet Candidates from Friday through Monday. Personally, if I could only do one trip, Parent Weekend wins, hands down.

I finally received my Letter of Acceptance today as well. I guess we have to reply back to the offer before they send out our BFE's.

Ok, that explains why many of you did not receive the Offers of Appointment when we thought you would. I think perhaps I was correct in guessing that all the Offer letters did not go out on Friday. Yours did not go out until Tuesday. They are obviously very busy and processing them as quickly as they can. The rest of us will just have to be patient. You would think, after waiting all these months and months to hear, that we could do that by now, but I think it is easier said than done!:biggrin:
