Thanks I'm thinking of either doing ROTC and become a officer in the army chemical corps or a coast guard officer

Chem Corps is considered the least attractive Officer Branch in the Army by some, it is usually the last on cadets list.
Now that being said I have known a couple Chem Corps officers and they did not mind the Branch once they were in it. You sometimes are assigned a lot of staff duty, it all depends on which unit you are at and what opportunities you take advantage of.
Why is this branch so problematic? And what is staff duty in this context?
If he was looking for experience in organizing golf tournaments, why didn't he just join the Air Force?

OP ...What do you think about New York?
Clarksonarmy would probably be a valuable source of info.....even more so if you are into hockey....
He has over 25 years of experience with the Army and is currently a ROTC recruiter and instructor.
But fair warning if you ask a foolish question.....you're going to get a smart A$$ remark....
So far your questions are fine..
