Stand and Fight …. No one gets out of this World alive

Early on, this conflict is a master course in the use of social media for propaganda.

And it well may have been a different book that Paul wrote. But he makes a great argument in one of his books that all coverage (including this coverage IMO ) is always how it has been as people prepare for war or enter war.

And Paul was writing long before social media.

How we describe the enemy, how we describe our side, how we describe our enemies atrocities , or their bombing of a children’s hospital, how we describe the brave outgunned defenders, it seems to always follow a certain pattern.

Who we support does not change the stories but it does change who we are seeing as the heroes and the brave.

If there was or is a Putin wing of supporters in the US they will see all these stories differently than those on this thread.

Word from distant relatives in western Ukraine: Rumor among local citizens is that Russian infiltrators are spraying some kind of infrared paint on buildings as a target for air-to-ground missiles. So the Ukrainians are countering with graffiti of their own, spraying over those supposed markings. Don’t know the veracity of it all, but it’s word from sources I’d consider credible.

I'm guessing it's a rumor put out by spray paint manufacturers

So back to this one. Not sure what’s true and what isn’t yet but hearing the following reports of possibly reverting to:

- Chechens
- Belarussians
- Parachuting attack dogs (what the?)
- Unmanned tanks
- Invisible drones

Is there a problem with Russian infantry? Is this a decoy/ intentional? Have they just been playing the JV team so far? Is it related to the emotional ties they may have with Ukrainian relatives?

This is a plus for US Psychological Operations Command. War gaming at the strategic level rather than at the tactical-fox hole level. I can only imagine that the Psyops folks are handing over their products to people wearing suits and cool sunglasses 😎.

Not MIB… the other one with a “C.”

Yes. They are second rate. Reports of Russian squads have no idea that they are going to a combat environment. Also according to reports, they are mostly 18-19 year olds. And the leadership have no expertise in combined land-sea-air operations. If the U.S. Army have this experience, the commanders (company to division) will be wishing to go to their dentist for a root canal and 4-wisdom teeth extractions rather than face the wrath of their commander. I supposed there are worse situation than the commander’s wrath like getting fired and packing your bags to go home.

I simply cannot see the term "Psyops" and not think of this clownshoe:

As someone hoping to be a Psyops officer, I'm taking notes!
Your name USMCGrunt, are you a Marine? How is your Psyops capabilities now in the Marines?

I’ve been in several Joint Task Force Operations (early 2000) in the Pacific, and each time I’m the only staff handling Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations.

@Banzaipipeline - I have been out of the Marines for a long time now. Currently, my DS is a Captain with an Artillery MOS. I can't offer any informed commentary on today's USMC psyops capability.

Sorry but the PSYOPers at the tactical level especially supporting the Special Operation communities are hard core, high speed, low drag types. Jumping HALO or static line, 200 lbs ruck sucks attached to their chute harness + weapons, water, food, batteries, SATCOM, med supplies etc… and on the way down…they’re figuring out which dialect to speak to locals after executing the Parachute Landing Fall (PLF).

Update: Belarus lightweight strongman is about to join the fight. Ok, we need one more to transform the invincible invading horde (IIH) into 3-stooges armored column.

Moving comments tonight. At least it was a lump in my throat kinda moment for me.

Sviatoslav Yurash, Ukrainian member of Parliament in an interview with Tucker Carlson.
Forgive me, I am only citing an excerpt of the whole interview. I wrote his remarks in my journal.

“That’s basically the point of keeping our city ours.”

“All of the government is staying in Kiev, we aren’t going to just give it up, it is our capital city.”

“Again, this was about country and we don’t want to allow Putin’s dreams of grandeur to destroy our dreams of independence, of liberty. We will fight for that.”

Damn.

Not sure if you are referring to me or "USMCGrunt" (a different poster), but I am a West Point 2026 appointee who hopes to one day do Psyops in the regular army.

Stand corrected. I think you have to spend several years in PSYOPs (senior 1LT or CPT) before going to SFQC. I mentioned this because my progression include CA, PSYOPS, and SF. Since I left, more changes were implemented. Perhaps current PSYOPS members can give more input.

There’s a slight fear before a firefight, but when you’re defending your family, home, country, friends; at the sight of the enemy, there’s a moment when you just say f*** it and take care of business.
