Stand and Fight …. No one gets out of this World alive

Chechnya is in so there is your third. Ukraine forces are lathering up their rounds with pig fat just for them.
Thanks. I forgot about Ms Piggy with lipstick 💄. If you’re a PSYOPS member lurking around the perimeter, please execute. But then again I’m behind the power curve. Go PSYOPS, Deliver the pamphlets with Ms Piggy’s grease.

Stand corrected. I think you have to spend several years in PSYOPs (senior 1LT or CPT) before going to SFQC. I mentioned this because my progression include CA, PSYOPS, and SF. Since I left, more changes were implemented. Perhaps current PSYOPS members can give more input.
Not a Psyops member but according to what I’ve read now, one must spend time in the regular army and be 1LT promotable or CPT to try to go Psyops or to go to SFAS.

Concur. Also there’s a pre-selection phase for SF now. Many, many years ago like post-Vietnam era, my pre-selection phase was a 1-day event: 12-mile ruck with 60 lbs in 3 hours, APFT, 100m swim in full uniform + Mattel M-16, and LBE.

If NATO got involved now, it could save Ukraine, but would likely start WWIII and it could very well go nuclear. That’s why deterrence through strength would have been better in 20/20 hindsight (i.e., Russia would not have invaded had Ukraine been a NATO member.)

Ukraine will fall eventually. And casualties will be horrific. I don’t see how the West can get enough arms (particularly air assets) to Ukraine in time. The way I see it, the only choice we have now is total economic war to strangle Russia and force Putin’s eventual overthrow. It appears that most of the people in the US and the World agree.

Ukrainian’s will not bend to Putin this time …. Hope is on their side now.

It’s going to be interesting to watch how this invasion , after it’s over , impacts us in the US (and other western countries)

Assuming no mad man is actually going to launch nukes at us.

Domestic politics, the make up of our military, the view of our military, military budgets, nato, our view of certain countries, etc etc etc——the ramifications from this will go on for years.

To paraphrase Stalin: How many divisions does hope have?

One thing with feathers …

Hope — Emily Dickinson
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.

Agree, it will be interesting. If Putin is deposed and Russia is left weaker, there will be less need to increase military budgets or to build up NATO. On the other hand, if Putin comes out of this stronger, although I doubt he will, NATO will need to bulk up.

What I am hoping is that the US and the EU will learn that they have tremendous economic and military clout when they work together. China is the real enemy that we need to prepare for. Old Mitt Romney was right about Russia in 2008 and on Sunday he said China is who we really need to worry about now.

Very nice from the front porch of the family home in Massachusetts.

This would be more the sentiment on the Polish Ukrainian border:

Nadzieja jest matką głupich i zakochanych

It's been thrown in my face more than once over the years.

That is Sentiment born from a long depression …. They’re fighting against it more so than ever now, and we will help them win this war to rid this depression for good.

We should definitely be taking notes from this situation. So should Japan and our allies in the Asia Pacific Region. As Putin pushes in, China is taking notes and basically asking themselves, "what can we do that Russia is doing wrong to improve our chances of taking over Taiwan"?

The US and our allies should ask ourselves what sanctions can we use against China should they attack Taiwan?
Are they strong enough to deter China?
Can our economy survive with sanctions against China?
Do our bases near Taiwan have adequate Air Defenses to survive a Chinese Missile Strike?

A good buddy of mine who went to TBS with me Is in Okinawa now and is concerned about a Taiwan crisis happening. Since China is more economically infused with the world and their Military has Civilian fusion included, I would be much more anxious about this Crisis. The Ukraine Crisis is a wakeup call to our nation, military, and politics. Really time for us to stay united and prioritize our threats.
