I used a chopstick during early Covid as a scratch stick to avoid touching my face/head. They can be useful.

I wonder if it's the nitrate seeping through your soils.It's going to be another bumper crop of peppers. This habanero has so many the plant can't stand up. Will have to harvest soon.
