The Military Feel Good Thread - Post anything

I'm not sure that I agree. All Marines know the difference between October 13th and November 10th. I would expect a "Navy man" like this to know as well. I can't get through the whole day of October 13th every year without a certain Senior Chief I work with, rubbing it in that the Navy is older.;)

Younger sibling who gets all the hand-me-downs.

We who have become all we could become are MONTHS older than both the Navy and Marines. We even share our birthday with the flag of the greatest country in the world.

The last time I made a similar statement, I was with a mixed group of Army, Navy and Marine buddies, we were all feeling good with empty pitchers and glasses in front of us. There was a cake on a nearby table all dolled up in red, white and blue and an eagle, globe and anchor decoration, that had been cut with a sword. So, I added to the statement above "...the next time you salute the flag, remember the Army, who shares a birthday with it". A few months later, at a baseball game I was standing next to one of the Marines as we saluted for the anthem, within a split second after dropping the salute, he punches me in the shoulder and says "that's for making me think about the Army when I salute the flag." All I could say was "mission accomplished".

Agree. Incredible food. I cringed when I heard "shaved ice" usually form a tourist.

Newbies had to assimilate quickly lest be confused with a tourist.

Kalua pork, 2 scoops rice, mac salad, slice of haupia, then let’s go get some shave ice. Some good eatin’ in that state, with the cultural mix. I still think about going to get warm malasadas on a weekend morning.
I actually saw a "SHAVE ICE" truck go past me in Northern NJ yesterday. Sadly, it was just passing by and not
selling treats at the time.

“When we assumed the Soldier, we did not lay aside the Citizen; and we shall most sincerely rejoice with you in the happy hour when the establishment of American Liberty, upon the most firm and solid foundations shall enable us to return to our Private Stations in the bosom of a free, peacefully and happy Country.” —George Washington (1775)

On the third Saturday in May, millions of American Patriots observe Armed Forces Day, offering due honor and respect for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen serving our nation

🍻To those of us and those like us, damn few, damn proud.
