From one of my FB sites. He graduated Navy boot camp in 1987. Made chief, got commissioned as an LDO, and lateral moved to IW community with promotion to captain.
Not sure if this qualifies as feel good, but given the choice of living in either San Diego, CA or Bremington, Washington; I'd take San Diego in a heartbeat. (Never been to either place tho)
Another reason America loves her Marine Corps. Who knew the U.S. had assets in Eswatini? Who new Eswatini was formerly known as Swaziland? Who knew the Marines do this kind of stuff all over the world all the time?
I did an embassy protection and sustainment op once. It was one of the most fun things I did in 26 years. It was in 1996 during one of Liberia's civil war flare-ups. It seems those who wish harm to the United States will stop shooting at U.S. property after a few well-placed rounds from a Marine sniper. Think of Jim Webb's movie "Rules of Engagement" without Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones and a bunch of other Hollywood stuff.
The first time I received pay on the mess decks like this, I stood there waiting for the DISBO to keep counting. He did not. Fortunately I was young and single and as this says, I had food and a place to lay my head.
