The Waiting Thread...

How crazy is it that my biggest worry is my child is white and male?? :frown:

Be careful... the thought police are everywhere...

me too

Thank you to all you other "crazy waiting" parents! Although my DD has a back up plan I KNOW her heart isn't in it. From NASS to CVW she is certain she would make an excellent midshipman. Please DO NOT do what I did. In my obessession I search back to last year this time and read a thread from April 2009 with 250 posts. It was heartbreaking and made me worry even more that a TWE was on its way!

Harmi...I thought we agreed not to do this! LOL

Here's to positive thinking...it looks like it might be more like April

Wow... I didn't think to do that... Now why would you plant that thought? I have work to do!

Shortmom...we BOTH are busted!! LOL!! Couldn't resist this one!! Hope you are well my friend!!

KNARFFFFF----DONNN'T DOOO IT!!! LOL!! I will all be even more neurotic than I am are now...EEKS! I am staying away from last years info...don't think I can take it!! Hahahaa!!!

Again, you ladies keep me sane (by reminding me I'm not the only one going INsane!) Keep those laughs coming. I can use them at this point.

As for Plan B, my son has been accepted to his second-choice school with an academic scholarship, but his hopes still all rest on the academy. We discuss, about once per week, what he will do if he gets the dreaded TWE, but he is always non-committal. He says he will stay positive until the end, and if necessary he will decide, though he does talk about reapplying.

No News is GOOD News...

I completely understand how you ladies feel, all I can say is...hang in there...check DODMERB 2x a week (ONLY!)...Tuesdays and Thursdays...Pray the rest of the week...no matter what other people says...HE always listens and can give us comfort! :thumb:
:tomcat: GO NAVY!

Well said, Scada!! That is definitely the best thing to remember as we wait as it answers all of our concerns!

waiting and praying..........it is Thursday, and my understanding a meeting day for the admissions board, so prayers for all of us. ( Funny how you are to pray for the best thing to happen, not necessarily what you want.)

Funny that you mention that. A dear lady at church said to me the other day, "I am still praying for your son, but remember it is in God's hands, and if the academy isn't where He wants your son, you certainly don't want him there either." I have to admit, I almost said, "Oh yes, I do!" :yllol:

Im pretty sure my admissions board is happening today, how soon will i know?

Momofthemajik: I almost choked (from laughing) on my coffee when I read your post That is exactly how I felt when someone said something similar! Here's to good news soon.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!! I actually used to say that same thing..."If God wants him to be at the Academy...it'll happen"...but now I am with you MomoftheMagik !! Your post is a good one...crackin' me up!! At least we can find humour during this awful WAIT!! LOL!!

RMEMBER...They are all STILL CANDIDATES unless the dreaded TWE arrives!!

Thought police!!!

Be careful... the thought police are everywhere...

Thought police!!!

Give me a break. I didn't serve this great country to fear some mythical boogeyman.

I served with all ethnic backgrounds, officer and Non-Coms. Excellence and idiocy knows no color or race.

If the USNA wants to go ethnic and sacrifice its high standards for future leaders, then this country and its service men and women will pay the ultimate price.

But, if the Academy can raise the future leaders it needs across the American ethnic mixing bowl, more power to them.

Thought police! Sheesh!

Heck, in recent decades, the bulk of the finest Intell officers (NSA, etc.) protecting this country have come from the Navy. If they wanted to know what you think about anything, they could find a way.

If some new ethnic policy fails to produce the required quality of leadership, the Navy will change it, and, I'm sure it will take time for that change too.

Wait till you see the 2010 census results of the current demographics - (Latino gains will be surprising). Then ask yourself, which American ethnic group should we under-represent, so my child can be admitted to the USNA?

An intent to recruit in under-represented ethnocentric areas of this great land is the right thing.

Who knows who the next great general or admiral will be named, like Gen. Shalikashvili ... maybe it will be a Kim, Jackson, Martinez, Ben-Judah, or maybe just good ol' Johnson.

No matter how bad you think it is, America always seems to get through quite well. Doesn't it?

God created all men in His image. Let's go with that thought, and be grateful that we are so fortunate to be Americans, and, waiting to hear if our child will be accepted into one of the top 40 schools America has to offer.
