USAFA Waiting Thread C/O 2027

yes to both i believe, an email should be sent saying a decision has been made. my DD Has been checking her portal daily as well in the event the email gets "lost in transmit" were still waiting as well. best of luck
I wouldn't worry too much about checking your email. For me and everyone I know, we got a call from our congressman who nominated us. I don't know if that's just a colorado thing though.

There were 77 new members of the House (17.7%) as a result of the '22 election, so I'm not sure that those who were nominated by a rep who is no longer in office should be holding their breath for a call from their congressman. I'd still check the email and/or portal.

We are also in CO glad to hear they make the calls. She was nom by senator, we're still waiting on her congratulatory letter they said they were going to send for being nominated. so not sure how he's doing it but she is answering all her random phone numbers that call just in case

We are in CO and never received a call. I just showed up on portal.

Just got done doing the Discovery Tour at USAFA. Here is a snippet of current C/O 2027 admission. They said they expect most offers to come in April due to DODMERB slowdown.
Great info for all of us. @moho your numbers were not that off. At least, now we have an idea on the number of appointments left.

What are thoughts on if my DODMERB is already done? It has been done 100% for a month or so at this point. Would the slowdown still affect me in a possible appointment sent?

I assume "Applicants" are those who fill out the Pre-Candidate Questionnaire, and "Candidate Pool" the ones who are invited to fill out the complete application? I don't remember seeing a "Candidate Pool" category before on any of the previous class profiles I could find, which is why I ask.

Also, it's interesting that they don't include a category for "Completed Applications."

They give "Candidate Pool" data every cycle. I happened to have class of 2025 data saved, they had 11.599 applicants and 11,261 in their Candidate Pool.

2025 Qualified Candidates were 3279. I would assume those would be those who meet fitness, DodMerb, and academic minimums. Is this correct?

I would say it affects nearly everyone. Appointments aren't made in a vacuum, so although you may be done, if others on your slate are still waiting, the SA may still be waiting to determine the best fit candidate. Or if you are on a slate that has a principal nom and that candidate isn't medically qualified or DQ'd (whichever the case may be), they can't move forward on the slate until that is resolved. Most appointments come in April, so just focus on your senior year, and your alternate plans until you hear something. Good luck!

I stand corrected. Your are right about "Candidate Pool." Last year's (class of '26) looked like this:

Applicants 8393
Candidate Pool 8234
Qualified Candidates 1775
Offers of Admission 1375

What I don't know is what makes one a "Qualified Candidate." I believe it's right that they have to pass CFA, qualify DoDMBERB, and meet "academic minimums," but I don't know what constitutes the latter. One interpretation would be that the Pre-Candidate Questionnaire is meant to screen for academic minimums; so as long as the applicant's transcript and official SAT/ACT corresponds with the PCQ, then the applicant meets "academic minimums." But I have no idea whether that interpretation is correct or not.

While visiting my son at USAFAPS this weekend, we started chatting with some doolies at a restaurant. To our surprise, we were told by them that they are down to 853.
By the end of Semester 1 the count for 2026 was 1045. I don't think it has fallen that much but I can give you an accurate count soon.

So 1070 started on I-Day and by the end of semester 1 the count was 1045? I don’t think so

1045 is the count for Recognition planning AND it was the count used for Class ranking but you don't think so? i.e. A cadets was 100 out of 1045. What are you basing your information on?

They went from 3,279 qualified in 2025 down to 1,775 for 2026?

I'm not sure where they get their information. My doolie had heard rumor of 940 before Christmas break, but nothing from an official source. Also if 853 is accurate, that's over 200 lost since I-day, and my doolie doesn't personally know any who have quit since the end of BCT (I think he knew of 2 or 3 quit who quit before ADay).
Our count was 1045 at the end of semester 1.

They went from 3,279 qualified in 2025 down to 1,775 for 2026?
Yes, which presumably was largely a function of the significant decrease in applicants last year. It bounced back this year, so the Candidate Pool is 1,100 more than it was for 2026 (although 1,900 fewer than for 2025). So I'd expect the Qualified number to be somewhere between 3,279 and 1,775, which appear to both be extremes in either direction.

We came in at 1,078 for I-day. Most classes come in at 1,200. So we've lost around 150ish which is normal for a class. Most end at around 980 give or take. However yeaaaa that's over 4 years verses not even one for us.
Where are you getting 150 left from?

Check your email and portal! My DS never got a notification from our congressman that he received a nomination. He learned that he had by checking his portal. Also, we have heard that the congressman may call to congratulate him on his appointment, but that didn't happen either. His decision was in his portal for almost two weeks before he checked (he was expecting to hear in March).

My questions also. D has accepted for C/O 2027, so wondering if something is going on with C/O 2026. Even if there is a usual 15%-20% drop out rate by graduation, these numbers are occurring before the end of the first year.

Just random thoughts, could the school shut downs during covid have impacted the students' academic readiness? Even with the "free" tuition, is it getting harder to attract and retain kids who may not be committed to the military academy mindset? Are the physical demands too taxing and foreign to many college-aged kids?

Not judging anyone's decision wrt staying at USAFA; I don't know if I could get through four years myself. Just wonder what other people's thoughts are, especially now that my D will be a Doolie next year, and if I'm being honest, it is concerning as a parent to hear that so many have dropped out so early in the game.
What is happening is that complete untruths are being told about the Class of 26. Doolie Gossip is being published as fact. 1045 was the official count for the Class of 26 on their official transcript at the end of the first semester.
