Do most MOC call you if you get an appointment?

I would say that a fair amount of them do call if you win their district, but just because you haven't gotten a call does not mean that you didn't win.

@845something what slate will it be charged against? Does it say on the appointment letter? DS has a Pres. Nomination too. Just curious. Thank you for all your helpful insight.

No difference in an appointment...they all look the same with different names on them of course. Guess what, diplomas are pretty much the same as well...name and state you came from.

Most MOC will give a call even if it isn't their primary. Smart MOC will nominate to maximize the number of candidates they can get in so even if someone wasn't a principal, doesn't mean that the MOC isn't interested in them.

As the list continues to grow, I am becoming more accepting of the possibility of DS goin the ROTC route. (Which he has received several offers.) I am very touched to see each and every new candidate add their name to the list. Though envious, I am very proud to see our countries future leaders taking such pride in their accomplishments. Well done to each and every one of you....including the parents!

WienerDog, as the parent of a DS who did not get in the first time, I can say I have felt the full panoply of emotions that you are currently experiencing. Heck, I experienced those same emotions as the parent of the same DS who was a civilian prepster who had not received his BFE when some of his classmates already did. It all worked out (he is a graduating from USMA in May) and it will for your DS as well. These are all the cream of the crop or they would not even considered by the academy and there is more than one way to get a commission (I went through the Marines PLC program). I too salute all those who have been accepted, but I go further and salute all those who have taken the risk shooting for a goal of entering the academy. You have my respect, whether you get in or not.

Don't worry. "Goin the ROTC route" makes your DS no less qualified to be an Army officer. My son has his TWE from USNA and is awaiting the same from USMA, most likely.

Yes, they will be disappointed, but they will dust themselves off and excel anyway. I was a P-nom from my congressional district back in 1981, but in all honesty, I would not have been competitive for a 4-yr ROTC scholarship to a Senior Military College. I was lucky based upon where I lived. My son is very unlucky coming from one of the most competitive areas in the country and yet, he got a 4 yr AROTC scholarhsip to VA Tech. I am not worried about him in the least. He is a fine young man.

He may decide to reapply from ROTC; that's his decision.

Once commissioned and in the Army, the source of commissioning is pretty much irrelevant. Soldiers want a leader who sets the example, is competent, and is honest.

The SAs don't hold the monopoly on any of those........ and I speak from 20 years of Active Duty experience.
