If the big batch of appointments is supposedly coming out next week and I am still waiting for a waiver by then should I move to plan B?

I’m in the same situation as you. It’s not over until you receive the TWE. I emailed admissions about a month ago, they said a waiver can be requested at any time now to right before the class enters. Stay strong!

Yours is the generally understood meaning here on the forum, but it sounds like admissions uses the term in a different way.

Yes, we do use it differently than it is understood on this forum. USAFA has a target number to fill each class. In general we are not particularly concerned if they are straight out of HS (so long as they meet the Title X age requirement). USAFA has different processing requirements for those attending college (specifically we need to see college transcripts). When making selection decisions, however, we are interested in the best candidates in the particular nomination slate (regardless of HS graduation year).

USAFA PS applicants and FF scholars are considered differently (obviously).

Are the portals updated overnight and not randomly throughout the day? Meaning, if we check at 8 a.m., do we need to not check until the following day or is there a chance it could update at any point throughout the day? In talking with other appointees in our district our MOC doesn't tend to call Nominees. When waiting for Plan B we checked the university portal multiple times a day and they were updated sporadically.

Does anyone have an "official" answer to this?

I seem to recall somebody on the forums...not too long ago...mentioned that the portal gets updated with new information at around the 3am point. I also seem to remember them saying that the majority of updates happen on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

That said....I seem to recall telling myself, awhile back, that I was going back to the gym, to lose some weight. My expanding gut suggests that may not be an accurate memory.

Yes. At USAFA we refer to appointments directly into USAFA as "direct appointments". That includes all of the incoming class, including those already in college, at a prep school, or currently serving in the military.

this big wave aimed at next week, you say "direct appointments".. Does this include us college re-applicants? or are we out on a separate thing? Didn't know if you just wrote "Direct" to mean basically all actual appointments and not offers to FF/USAFAPS. Thanks!

I'm sure, after reading their responses, that Insider already cleared this up for you. But if not, I'm a college re-applicant and got the call yesterday. The wave should include other re-applicants as well.
