This has more to do whit the career path ahead and the courses offered. West Point has very interesting courses and a very developed Social Studies department, instead, the other academies concentrate more on scientific studies and mathematics or in general subjects I’m not interested in. I informed myself on the roles of each branch of the Military, the Air force and the Navy are too “far from the ground”, I want to cooperate, whit locals, do networking, do geopolitical analyses, the marines corps are more a special force that intervenes in high risks situations, instead the Army has a more long-term strategy and careers opportunities that fit more what I’m good at and what I want to do. I already envision myself working in the Arab Gulf (U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman) a part of the world I’m already confident whit, I already visited the U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia, made friends there, studied the local culture and language. Another factor that could help are the similarities between Arab and Italian culture (sense of family, coffee culture, mentality), all things that have been very useful to connect whit locals and could become a useful tool for the Army in the future. I think that my different cultural background could enrich the community of West Point whit a new perspective, point of view, language, and obviously, West Point and the other cadets would enrich me a lot as a person. Especially during international exchanges (like the one in Italy) having someone that perfectly knows the local language, how to move in the country/city and that could give a unique perspective, would be a great advantage and experience for everyone. I consider West Point an opportunity that I absolutely don't want to waste, I would never think of a school that could adapt so well to my interests and perspective. In these long 12 years, I observed the U.S.A. only through my smartphone, Watching American YouTube Videos (DUDE Perfect, and so on...) , TV (like Dr.phil or The Daily Show With Trevor Noah), Reading Newspapers (CNBC, USA Today), listening to the radio (My favorite is Nexus Radio POP) has been part of my daily routine for years now, my house despite being in Italy looks like an American one, Both my Name and Surname don't sound Italian, I don't look like an Italian (Grey eyes, Blond Hair, 6.36 Ft Tall) and every time I show my passport where there's written Born in Kansas people think that at least one of my parents in American, and I learned the slang, mems, ( Ok, Boomer, The Crib Homie, Slides, Karen meme and so on) and all the little cultural tips and curiosity of each state + the History, Geography and so on (Read Dead Redemption 2 has been very helpful to learn the Hillbilly slang
) when people talk to me they think I directly came from the U.S.A., l but in reality I never lived there except for when I was born, and no one in my family has ties whit the U.S. Let say that my life is a big coincidence that made me look like someone that always lived in the U.S.
This all looks good. I'd say don't get too hung up on stats. As long as you are able to get a good enough score on standardized tests and pass the CFA, then it really all comes down to how you deal with the application itself. Get your items done early, especially the nomination.
It's really neat that you'd like to attend West Point from Europe. May I ask why West Point stands out so much? I didn't know there was that much international interest. Good luck to you, and I hope you receive an appointment!
