Waiting Game

If my DoDMERB status says "Under Waiver Review" for USAFA, does it mean that they requested a waiver review? Yes, I did have to send in AMI's, though my portal does say "Complete but medically disqualified"
I believe the “Under Waiver Review” message is automatically displayed after a Candidate has been DQ (after sending AMI). If USAFA decides to pursue a waiver, you will be notified by a letter on your portal.

Are all Falcon foundation scholarship coming out today? Or there will be more coming within this month?
Nobody on this board knows the answer to that.

All,

Many Falcon Foundations offers hit portals this morning. There will be more however, but probably not many until after April 15 (the date the current offers will expire if not accepted). The FF has a limited number of slots and must wait to see how many remain after the first batch of offers are accepted, rejected, or expire. Historically only about 50% of FF offers are accepted. The 50% who don't accept often have direct appointments to USMA and/or USNA, so definitely do not give up hope on FF offers (it is not uncommon for USAFA Admissions to make additional FF offers as late as mid-June).

As far as direct appointments are concerned, a lot of candidates will get notified by their congressman and/or senators over the next week. USAFA intentionally delays posting appointments on the portals to allow time for the congressmen and senators to break the news to the appointees. Not all congressmen and senators take advantage of that, however. The majority of this years offers will post to the portals next week.

Let me stress that this is not the final list of offers (but it is most of them). There are still a number of unresolved vacancies that Admissions is working hard to complete (so don't give up hope if you don't get an appointment next week). USAFA Admissions generally sends non-select letters around the middle of April as we continue to complete processing and making offers until then.

Thank you for the update, Insider!

I have a related question ..... my son still does not have any sort of indication if he has a waiver approval for his medical (as some insight, USNA already granted his as it is a very minor reason for a DQ), but has every other thing clear in the process (academic, CFA, nomination, etc.). In general, and hypothetically, would someone in his situation be in the mix for the decision timeline you just mentioned for this week?? Or, could he have already received a waiver and it just not posted, and he could still get an appointment offer? Or perhaps, an LOA stating he still needs his waiver approved?

If you cannot say as every situation is different, I totally understand. Just want him to be informed on the possibilities during this waiting game.

Thanks again!

USAFA routinely offers appointments to candidates with initial disqualifications from DODMERB. If such an appointment is issued the appointee will be told that his/her appointment is "conditional" on receiving a waiver. That process then must work its way to completion.

If your congressman and senators have a history of not notifying candidates, could you ask your liaison officer?

I just got a phone call from a DC suburb (never happens). Could be a scam, I wish it went through (in our apartment the first call to my cell always drops...) My mind is racing.
