Received official correspondence from USMA Admissions that I’m now fully qualified and have been put on NWL. It’s the standard letter but after looking around more on my application I found this: “ Once all application requirements are on file (marked with a

)
, including Nominations and 7th Semester Transcripts, your application file will enter the queue for committee review. During high peak times, it can take up to 60 days for files to reach the committee. You will be notified immediately of any committee decisions on your file.” I understand that I could be appointed tomorrow or next month or not at all, but is it likely I receive TWE? I know about possible AOG opportunities if selected and my back up is ROTC, but am I seemingly in the clear of a TWE being sent my way?

You still have a chance of a TWE coming your way. If you don't beat the competition on your nomination slate(s) then you will receive a TWE.

Not sure of exact numbers, but I think something like 3000 candidates are fully qualified each year and about 1200 are selected for the class.

Hey, instead of making a new thread, I thought I would ask here. I got into contact with my RC and he said my slate has yet to be resolved. Does resolved mean the slate is closed? I'm not sure what it means and I would love to learn more about it. Thank you!

The SA hasn’t yet decided who from the slate will get offers of appointment, who will not.

resolve - settle or find a solution to (a problem, dispute, or contentious matter).

So it has not been settled as to who will receive an appointment from your slate, as CaptMJ said.

Google is your friend.

OK-- advice time. My ds got the TWE for West Point --actually in a portal notification so he is out for this year. Since he is 3q he is not eligible for prep right? So he has a couple back up plans but if his goal is to try again next year-- should he try to just go to regular college for a year and do ROTC? Go to A&M and join the Corp? or try to get in one of the Military type colleges. Do those help? A guy told my DS awhile back that New Mexico mil inst was where his son went. I guess just looking for best option to try again next year. He said he wants to try one more time. appreciate the feedback.

Has he contacted his RC and asked if an AOG (appointment to civil prep for those 3Q) was an option? My DD is attending MMI as a sponsored prep and I believe all but 1 received appointments for this class.

To parrot what Teragram said, my DS is also a sponsored prep at MMI. 20 of 21 AOG's ended up getting appointments. Originally DS was heartbroken he had to go this route, when home for spring break recently he told us this year "was the best thing that ever happened" to him. The goal went from just trying to get to the Beast to now working out ,lifting and running, nearly non-stop with his fellow AOG's to not survive the Beast but to dominate it. Truth be told there isn't much else to do in Marion, Alabama but spend hours a day in the weight room which for a parent many miles away is a Godsend. My family cannot thank the administration at MMI enough for what they have done for our son.

If you really want to attend USMA and have an opportunity to get an AOG scholarship , jump at it..

I don't think there is any, or much, difference in the options you describe. A&M, any SMC, or a military school adds a more West Point like environment to the mix, but I'm not sure that helps over a regular college and ROTC. Certainly I would expect financial aspects to come into play if one feels the difference is marginal. Of course another aspect to consider is where your son will thrive, which is probably the most important thing.

If he was 3Q he will not be eligible for prep.

The benefit to joining ROTC at a civilian college is that it affords the applicant another nom source. Wherever he goes, he needs to take a rigorous course load, mimicking plebe year as much as possible.
