Our WV twin dds just received 3 nominations each from 2 senators and are waiting to hear from our representative.
Each earned two noms to their first choices and one to their second choice. Very exciting!
The girls just heard from Alex Mooney’s office today—they each received 3 additional nominations.

They now have six each—three to their 1st choices, two to their 2nd choices, and one to their 3rd choice. They both applied early action to the USCGA as well, so they should hear something by Christmas on that.

Now the wait is on.

congratulations to your girls!!! fantastic!!

Hello! Does anyone know when an applicant could expect to hear back from Senator Toomey or Senator Casey? I already had my interviews with each of those panels. Also, is PA more competitive for nominations than the average state? Thank you!

my DS heard from all before Christmas
Agreed, my DS heard from all 3 last year by Christmas. Noms didn't show in portal until first week of January. Senator and Representative noms need to be entered in portal by 31 January.

@txfwindian and @USNAhopeful2025 , TX senators have not done interviews for as long as I can remember. Cruz's nominating committee met TODAY 11/20/20 - Go to Cruz's website/Press Releases, scroll down for article. This is about the same timing as last year, right before Thanksgiving. Phone calls were on 12/12 for Cruz; 12/17 for Cornyn, and they did coordinate (for my DD anyway). Nominations appeared in portal a few days later.
Thanks for that information. I have a question, but maybe it is because I am a dullard. From all my reading here, I thought a "slate" was ten kids. However, reading this from Senator Cruz's site, do they nominate 40 kids?

"After Sen. Cruz nominates 40 applicants, the service academies will make their selections early next year."

Oh, and for any other Austinites, DS has an interview with Rep. Williams this Saturday.

From what I understand, the slate of 10 is per academy. There are 4 academies that require nominations, hence 40 applicants. I believe that's how the math works
Thanks. That makes sense. This whole time I thought it was ten/politician, which was making DS's odds about as good as me going to the moon. Not that 40 makes it much easier, but still.....

For some deeper reading on nom sources and numbers, see link below.

You got the answer from poster above, 4 slates of up to ten, respectively for USMA, USNA, USAFA, USMMA, ten for each available slot that comes open each year. There could also be additional slates of ten, if the Senator had an additional slot to fill. Five total slots per SA. Each year, theoretically at least 1, possibly 2, slots become available.

The 3 on the east coast are more competitive usually because they are closer to home. Not to say USAFA won’t be competitive but outside USMMA probably less thsn USMA and USNA.

Anyone here from Missouri? Curious what the timeline for the noms is and which MOCs do interviews (and when those might be).
My son received a nomination from Congressman Cleaver (no interview). Neither senator is doing interviews. Senator Blunt’s website made that clear in the application process. In early Nov, my son received an email from Senator Hawley’s office stating that they were not doing interviews this year and would announce nominations in late December/early January.

Yep, same here. Wagner interview this weekend, and silence from the senators. Maybe they don't do interviews?
At least we know it’s not just us. That’s what I love about this forum - full is insight and great information. My daughter was starting to think it was just her. But now we know there is a good chance that senators haven’t contacted anyone yet. And yes, I’ve heard they do interviews but with COVID this year who knows?? Good luck to you!
