Judging from other posters, I figure most are told what their ranking on the slate is, which makes me a bit worried. Thoughts?
Our DS was notified of a Senatorial Principal nom, but the other noms he had no clue where he ranked on them. I have been trolling around here for a short while (a year or so) and outside of principal noms, I don't recall candidates posting knowing where they sat on a slate.

Even if you were to know where you ranked, you don't know your WCS or what puzzle piece of a candidate the SA is looking for in any class building cycle.

Keep yourself sane, and manage what is within your control. Congratulations on your two nominations. That is worth celebrating for sure.

West Point and the Naval Academy. But his heart is with the Coast Guard and since he’s received his appointment offer there, that’s what it will be for him. What about your son?
Naval Academy and West Point also. He's had the most communication with CGA and Naval Academy compared to the other SA's coaches. Visited both those places this fall. I have my preferred choice, but I don't want to influence his decisions if he gets any appointments.

So, hypothetically, if I receive a nomination but not an appointment, will I be put on the National Weight List? Or is that something else entirely?

Yes. If you receive a nomination, you are in competition with 9 other people on your slate for 1 appointment. The remaining 9 others who don't get it are put in the national waiting pool where the academy fills in the remaining slots.

I think the National “Weight” List is indeed something else entirely, probably not one you want to be on. My favorite typo of the day! You received serious answers above.

@Capt MJ
Being on NWL with a nomination or without a nomination would be the same thing.. right? Basically, the MOC/Senator nom not available to be charged, so SA can look somewhere else for a nom if the candidate is worthy.?

The NWL, national pool, The Waitlist Near The End Which Is Something Else - all are terms and concepts used, differently at times, by various SAs - so I don’t venture too near the edge of that rabbit hole.

Here’s what I feel comfortable in saying.

There are those appointments which are clearly delineated in written policy that can be given to fully qualified applicants on the slate who don’t win the appointment that will actually be charged to the elected official.

If there is someone the SA really wants, who has not gotten a nom, that’s when the VP nom and other Superintendent-controlled noms and possibly Mysterious Others come into play. What that limbo status is called while awaiting an offer or a declination - rabbit hole warning.

It is not over until a “regret we cannot offer you” communication.

Backing away from rabbit hole now. 🐰

Anyone hear from Senator Sinema from AZ yet? I've already heard back from my others.
The Air Force Academy is now showing a nomination from Sinema for my DS. Must have been entered in the last 24 hours, probably this morning. He hasn't received any communications from Sinema's office. Also, USMA was his top choice (because of an LOA), but no nomination update there. We're still waiting on Rep Biggs as well.

Hello all,

I know this is a specific question, but does anyone else from NC know when Senators Burr and Tillis typically have their nomination interviews? A
Tillis was handed out nomination already for this year, not sure about Burr.

Seems that Maryland senators and our district's house of rep. congressman are late to the game. They just conducted interviews over the last month, and my son said he believes they do not announce until later January.

Anyone else have this experience???

Yep, that's the same way for me (AZ-04).

On my West Point portal, it says that I have a nomination for MS61 (which is Sen. Wicker). His office has confirmed that they have given me the nomination. However, there are two boxes that say MS61 as opposed to one. Is this a mistake? It appears to be a box where another nomination would go, but it has the same code. Any knowledge is greatly appreciated!
