Hello - I was unexpectedly informed that I will have a chance to be interviewed by Sen. Feinstein's panel. Does anyone have experience or insights about how her office does it? I have read threads about other processes - length of interview, panel vs individual etc. I have not found anything about Sen. Feinstein's approach. Thanks

I would say not to worry about the specific Senator's format. Even if someone could provide counsel from last year, things could have changed this year. Review your essays, make sure you have your reasons for wanting to serve and why you selected the Academy you listed as your number one. Plan your attire, be early, and be your best self. Confident without being arrogant, that's really all you can do. Good luck to you.

How different! I’m in FL and all 3 of my interviews are 15 min each. They go by fast and I get the feeling the paper applications are weighing more than they usually do. I have 2 that are virtual; 1 in person.

I had my Rubio interview at the end of October but sadly was rejected by Scott.
Have either of you heard back from Sen. Rubio yet? I know it's still early, but I'm just wondering.

DS was interviewed last year by her staff for USMMA and it was over the phone in the car bc he had other interviews that day, so they had to fit him him...questions were 1..what do you know about USMMA. 2. What is your biggest accomplishment/regret.3. Define 3 traits of a good leader, and when have you demonstrated these in your life.4 A weird one was, what did you do last night? 5. What is plan B @ C...That’s all I can remember..Good Luck..

An interview question to be prepared for, and for which there are many variants:

“Describe a time when you failed at something, or failed someone, what you learned about yourself, and how you addressed that failure.”

“What is one of your character flaws and how do you work to counter it?”

If you draw a blank on these, or unthinkingly reply you can’t think of any, it does not make for a brilliant impression. This isn’t one to BS, either, by responding “I tend to work too hard to make something perfect, etc.”

Interviewers on the panel are usually people skilled both at being interviewed and interviewing in the corporate world. They want you to succeed and do well, and they are trying to get a sense of whether you and the desired SA will be a good two-way fit.

My answer to the second question above? I have many character flaws, and depending which one has been tripping me up the most and is most germane to the job interview, I bring it out into the open. One of my “usual” ones: “Impatience. I know I can feel impatient in my mind with people who don’t get things right the first time, or seem resistant to doing things as I have directed. I’ve learned to take a breath, remind myself that showing impatience will impede trust and two-way communications and repeat to myself, ‘Just because they write/do/say something differently than I do, that means they are different, not necessarily wrong.’”
I am still impatient, oh yes, extremely - I can’t tell you how many times I’ll type a response here on SAF, realize I am being impatient in tone, and go back to edit or delete.

No, not yet. On his website, it states that he will be mailing out decisions on a rolling basis starting mid-November. so hopefully we'll hear back soon!

Do Congressmen share their nominations lists with Senators and vice versa so as to not nominate the same people?
I have heard some do, some don't. It would make sense....but for instance I don't know if all the Representatives in my state would be done with interviews and announcing nominations before the Senators are ready to send theirs out.
