2028 State Nominations Thread

Does anyone know for certain how the Illinois Senators rank their slates? I know they collaborate and rarely duplicate noms. Do they give principle noms?

The only way to know for sure what method they use to submit slates, including the use of principal noms, is for the candidate to ask the staffer, and see if they choose to share that info. Elected officials are free to conduct their process as they wish, and may change methods year to year as they wish.

My DS asked a Durbin staffer last year, and was told he uses a competitive slate, meaning no principal or ranks. Not sure about Duckworth, but you are right that they collaborate. From her rejection letter last year, they got almost 300 applications.

Great info. Thank you.

Anybody get an interview notification from Senator Padilla in California?

Senator Mark Warner in VA notified candidates that they were NOT selected for an interview. Our other Senator, Tim Kaine does not conduct interviews. Each state/senator is different.

I believe Warner completed interviews last Thursday, Nov. 2. This is at least the case for West Point. Our local MOC rep’s West Point committee completed interviews last Wednesday, Nov. 1.

My son was not granted an interview with Warner but has an interview Saturday with our MOC. Fingers crossed! Only looking for nomination to USNA.
