AFROTC 2015 Enrollment Allocations

They my have stopped the POC 1.5 semesters for traditional cadets, but this poster served AD as an enlisted member for 5+ years.

Additionally, TROY is unique, and this might exist because they have a degree satellite program within in the military, like ERAU and UMD.

Just my opinion, but they need to talk to the COC at Troy and not us.

I've heard that they just announced 139 more EA's for FY17, so some of those that didn't get one already are being told they have one now. Good luck if you are in that situation.

I can confirm. Our Det got another one so we are at a 100% selection rate.

I just found out I received a slot with the additional EA's, I dont know why they added more, but I am not going to complain!

Can someone help clarify what my Enrollment Allocation exactly entails? I received a "Rated (tech) EA" and my major is Mechanical Engineering. I put down that I want to volunteer for rated duty, but is this EA just a rated EA, or would it become a Tech EA in the chance that when I apply for a rated job I don't get one?

Thanks for the clarifications.

An EA is your ticket to field training. There are 2 types of EAs (rated and nonrated). Rated EAs are for those going for pilot, cso, rpa, and abm. Nonrated are for the other career fields in the Air Force.

At my Det we received two of those additional EA slots which bumped our selection rate to 88%.

What my Captain explained to two of our Cadets was that if you are Rated/Tech you have to go up with the Rated board. If there is a chance that they do not pick you up for rated than you would revert back into the Tech pool. So there is a chance that you do not get picked up for Rated but to be honest I doubt that happens. It can happen but with the raise in EAs and Rated slots I think they'll be a lot of slots after the boards meet.

On our rated EA paperwork it said the following, "You have received a Rated-Non-Tech Enrollment Allocation and are now classified as a RATED officer candidate based on indicated career interest. You are required to meet the Rated board, which typically convenes in Jan of the Fiscal Year prior to your commissioning. ...Until told otherwise, should you choose to not apply for the rated board, not get selected for rated duty as a result of the board, or become disqualified for rated service, you may be subject to dismissal or a disenrollment investigation."

has anyone heard what has happened to the cadets who wern't selected for the rated bored this year?

There have been posts that said those not given a rated slot were told they will not be separated and instead be boarded in the fall for the non rated board.

I would not say that rated is 100% guaranteed. They have never had a national average of 100%. 93% is usually the best shot. Than also realize, as stated rated means all 4 areas, not just pilot. I believe that out of the 1000 +/- that went up for the board this year, they had a total of @800, (including @170 +/- alternates). Less than 400 were given pilot slots.

A lot of people, including me expected this years to be a bumper crop for pilot due to the known pilot shortage the AF is expecting, but it wasn't a number aspect. Statistically, it was @par for prior years, for the overall rate for rated selection, just not as high as many thought would be for pilots.

Just wanted to place that clarification out there that a part of your post would be inconsistent from a historical data perspective.

well I hope they are correct about the being moved to a non rated bored, it would be really unfortunate to go to field training and do your 300 year only to be kicked out of the program.

Or retake the AFOQT and be let go. I've witnessed it and it's pretty tough.

why would the be let go after retaking the AFOQT, did they like not pass it or something?
Yep. They take the most recent score and that is why you want to be careful when considering retaking it. If you don't pass you are released.

I believe Sled maybe referring to a poster here that got an EA slot, but failed the AFOQT, and if I recall there is a 180 day minimum retake. If that cadet can't retake it until July 15 th, and Max 6 starts July 28th, they may be allowed to attend because the results were yet to be released.
OR:
It appears AFROTC is going back to years ago. Cadets, scholarship or not, took their first AFOQT as a 100 in the end of September. Those that needed to retake were given it as a 200, again in the end of Sept. , along with the 250s. They have been tweaking it for years now.

One year it was junior year. SFT used either the AFOQT or SAT/ACT scores, which ever was higher, for selection. However, as a POC for AFSC they had to have an AFOQT score. If non-rated, than you could take it fall and spring of that year. Fail it and they could say goodbye.

No, it happened to a former cadet at our detachment. He took his AFOQT and passed, attended field training, then retook it to have a better rated slot chance but failed. He was let go. We took it our first time this fall so we had a chance to retake it before FT. I would like to mention though that no matter how early cadets take it there is nothing to stop you from taking it again after FT and if you fail you're out.
