CHANCE ME! College Re-Applicant, Low GPA, Heavy ECs, Jail time, Built Businesses, list goes on.

You asked: "Please give your honest opinion thanks" Ok, here is my opinion since you asked. I think you have trouble with 'focusing'. You remind me of a Poem by ROBERT W. SERVICE:

The Men That Don't Fit In
There's a race of men that don't fit in,
A race that can't stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountain's crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they don't know how to rest.

If they just went straight they might go far;
They are strong and brave and true;
But they're always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
They say: "Could I find my proper groove,
What a deep mark I would make!"
So they chop and change,
and each fresh move Is only a fresh mistake.

And each forgets, as he strips and runs
With a brilliant, fitful pace,
It's the steady, quiet, plodding ones
Who win in the lifelong race.
And each forgets that his youth has fled,
Forgets that his prime is past,
Till he stands one day,
with a hope that's dead,
In the glare of the truth at last.

He has failed, he has failed;
he has missed his chance;
He has just done things by half.
Life's been a jolly good joke on him,
And now is the time to laugh.
Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
He was never meant to win;
He's a rolling stone,
and it's bred in the bone;
He's a man who won't fit in.

Another Poet said this:

"Find out what it is in life you don't do well......and then...don't do that thing"

I would suggest you move on to another idea.....
I went back to re read this. Being born from romania, my parents believe i actually have gypsy blood in me. Good eye

My gosh, we don't know for certain that you are really the individual who perpetrated these crimes.

For all we know you could be an aquaintance who wants to publicly embarass him. This is because I find it hard to believe that anyone would want their reputation sullied on the internet who has any degree of foresight.

And to include your photograph as well? Who does this?

Smells like a troll to me.

You've applied to West Point twice before, therefore you have a RC. Possibly the same one both times. Your RC is the one to be able to best tell you of your chances.

Your questions revolve around 2 issues:
1) Low GPA -
West Point doesn't use GPA to evaluate you academically. They use Class Rank and Test Scores. You have a good ACT score, but you did not mention class rank. Applying from college - Your application builds on top of your high school file. You can't do anything to change your class rank, but you can take the ACT again and see if you can score even higher (remember they superstore).
West Point wants to see that you have succeeded in college, especially in classes that Plebes will take - Chemistry, History, Calculus, English. You didn't mention what your college grades were, but grades are really important in applying as a college student. Think about it - Admissions wants to make sure you can handle the academics at West Point. It is just a guess based on high school performance, but once in college, you can prove (or not prove) that you can handle college level courses successfully (making 'A's and 'B's). If you can't make the grades in college, then why would WP think you can pass their rigorous curriculum while you are juggling all the other stresses that come with being a cadet.

2) Criminal Record -
No one really knows the answer to this question except West Point. You know it is a hurdle. What has your RC said about this?

As far as the rest of your profile,
- Building successful businesses isn't going to outweigh academics. It is 2 separate pots - academics and leadership (your business ventures would be considered ECs which fall under the leadership portion of your file). Academics is weighted 60% whereas ECs are weighted 10%.

As for your other question about ROTC v West Point, ROTC commissions more officers than West Point. However, WP grads are active duty. Not so with ROTC.

Don't assume that the admissions processes/standards are the same across all the SAs. What your BGO tells you, may not be accurate for WP or USAFA.

We are all just on the sidelines giving opinions and advise.
You have a unique situation. Your RC is the one you need to be talking to.

Not entirely correct.

ROTC commissions both Active Duty and Reserve/National Guard. This year ROTC will commission 3000 +- cadets to Active Duty Army.

+1 Jcleppe
Also, federal law dictates Army ROTC cadets graduating from SMC's are guaranteed Active Duty if they meet PMS approval and all other commissioning requirements.

Agree. I worded that poorly. I meant to communicate that all WP grads go active duty but not all ROTC go active duty.
Thanks for clarifying and explaining in more detail.

best to let this thread die. he has not applied to usma - neither currently nor the last three years as he has stated.
