Expect the unexpected should be the motto for this years admissions process. I heard that in the past AFROTC and USAFA never coordinated. But this year the rules have changed. Congrats!!!!

Kind of, but I think for her it opened a little too late. She already sent in her acceptance to USNA, and is pretty set on taking that oath on 28 June in Annapolis. I told her to take a few days to really think about it, and then if she still feels the same way, she needs to let the Air Force know incase they can offer the scholarship to someone else.

I, too, am surprised that USAFA and AFROTC are coordinating now.

Also, just another piece of info for those in the reapplying club...the ones from our congressional district that got the USAFA appointments were second timers either USAFA preppies or other prep school attendees.

Congrats to those receiving AFROTC scholarships!! Those are very competitive too, and great opportunities.

DS's ALO was the same person for USAFA and AFROTC. But when you think about it, the more ROTC and SAs work together, the less bureaucracy. If less money is spent on paper shuffling and redundencies, then more money is available for ROTC scholarships and SA appointment offers!! Over simplified math, I know, but I can't find my calculator right now. :rolleyes:

My thoughts exactly!

My DS is going ahead with Syracuse... deposits made.

He has already contacted the cadre and told them of his plans to re-apply next year to the AFA.

Falcon Appointments

DS just texted me that a NWP friend from California just posted on his Facebook that he has received an appointment. So the Falcon appointments must be out. I asked DS how the friend was notified, but DS doesn't know.

Yes, the Falcon appointments have been released. The MOCs have until Tuesday to notify their nominees, then the offers will appear online. Not all MOCs take the opportunity, however. Counselors are specifically instructed not to release the information before the MOCs, so there is no reason to call USAFA.

:eek: I hope my MOC finds a phone soon! Don't think any of us here have heard yet... still waiting! Congrats to your DS's friend, hopefully your DS will also know soon! (Tomorrow?? :shake: )

So i got my TWE in the mail, but my portal still says candidate, does that mean I am still being considered for prep school or have all the prep school offers already gone out?

It is my understanding that your portal will only change if you get an appointment to AFA, to Prep, or get a Falcon Scholarship offer. Otherwise, it will continue to say "Candidate" until July 1, at which time it will close.
 
2 of the preps here received notification of their appointments this evening! The other 7 of us are still waiting... best wishes to the rest of you on the edge of your seats!

The sources said that the notifications came in either just before or after close of business so, yeah, hopefully tomorrow! Try to get some sleep... Lord knows I probably won't get much! Good luck :thumb:
 
My DS is Falcon at MMI and received call from our Congressman about 9:15 pm tonite!!!! Finally!!!!!!!
