The day finally arrived.

My older son commissioned and graduated this past weekend, the ceremony was wonderful and the University of Idaho and the ROTC Battalion did a terrific job. The cadets were sworn in by the Commandant of the Marine Corps who was also the Keynote speaker at the graduation. Our younger son was able to carry the US Flag for the color guard during the graduation while all the combined ROTC Cadets were sworn in during the graduation ceremony, the box of tissues were handy.

The hall was filled with a lot of very proud parents as these young men and women received their commissions. These cadets could not have asked for a better Cadre both past and present. Thank you to the University of Idaho Chrisman Battalion for turning these once raw cadets into the officers in the the US Army, it was a job well done.

The whole weekend was one of both joy and sadness for my son as he finally reached his goal he also had to say goodbye to those close friends that shared his journey.

We still have 3 years to follow your younger son at the same battalion and we look forward to all that comes with it. There will always be something missing as we take the trips back and forth to the school each year. Now we watch as our son begins the next phase of his adventure.

Congratulations to all the cadets from every service that commissioned and graduated this year, your journey has just begun, and good luck to all those still working toward your goals.

Congrats to your family Jcleppe and the new Sir!

Only three more Idaho winters to go. My best wishes for the continuing success of both young men.

Thanks for the report jcleppe. I'm sure having both sons present and the Marine Corps Commandant there made it truly awesome. If you're anything like me I'm sure the tissues were used liberally. God bless you all as you go through your period of excitement, adjustment, and new experiences.

Congrats Jcleppe,
He is a fine young man, Best wishes to him on his journey. He has done real well and will do so in the future.

Congraulations Jcleppe!! Hard to believe that is has already been 1 year since our DS graduated from University of Idaho ROTC and it was us sitting in that hot Idaho sun.

Congratulations! I am looking forward to this day at the U of I with our son in a couple of years. DS was the piper for Navy Commissioning at both WSU and UI. Sounds like a very moving event!

I had to laugh when I read this tread though. EDelahanty posted about the long Idaho winters and navy1981 talked about the hot Idaho sun--yep..that pretty much describes it! Glad you had a beautiful Mother's Day weekend!

Congrats!!!! My son commissioned last weekend ....Air Force. Was great to see his smile and witness his joy at the ceremony. It was the first time I think I really say him as a man, instead of a kid. Im a proud mama as well!
