I have GERD, which is a stomach/digestive issue. I believed it was disqualifying for the past few years, but just today I read that it is no longer disqualifying if it is controlled. I take medicine for my condition, and as such, it does not affect me at all. It is completely controlled and it does not bother me. Am I safe from disqualification?

The citation below is from Army Reg. 40-501 - Standards of Medical Fitness, as of 12/22/16.

I don't know if it conforms to your understanding or if your information is more recent. Remember that different branches and service academies may have varying standards and waiver rules, and an automatic DQ is not the end of the line. You may want to contact DODMERB for further guidance
