I am having trouble with trying to figure out my hair for Iday. I am a female, and my hair is curly and frizzy, and is cut just below my collar, so I can neither put it in a bun nor wear it loose. My hair naturally exceeds 3" from my scalp. Any advice?

You may want to go with a very short, shaped cut for I-Day. Once you’re there, the women in the USNA Beauty Shop are experienced with various hair textures and techniques, and there should be some visits there during PS. Upperclass women are also great resources.
Check out YouTube for other unofficial videos. Military women have been coping with challenging hair for decades. Now, at least, Navy grooming standards have been adjusted to accommodate wider variations in hair length and texture.

There are also endless entries for straight google searches such as “military women short curly frizzy hair styles.”
Don’t over worry about frizz. It will be the usual humid summer in Annapolis, and every woman’s hair will look frizzy during Plebe Summer. You will swap tips with others on products that will help.
Hundreds of women have figured this out at all the SAs, use all those attributes that got you an offer of appointment and figure it out!

Adding to this, with perspective from DD. When it comes to Plebe Summer hair, convenience and efficiency should be prioritized over vanity. Lot of swimming and sweating, but not much time for drying or primping. So go with quick “wash and wear.” Much of the time, your hair will be wet (moldy hair is a thing, believe it or not) or under a cover or both.

Keep in mind for plebe summer, you won’t have much time to do anything other than something basic within regs. Upperclass women are usually helpful. Everyone figures it out.
