I think I am done here. I’m on short final to retirement and my replacement has finally been named. My usefulness is quickly expiring as I will be out of the official loop come the fall semester.

For the moderators— you guys are awesome. This forum is amazing and I wish when I applied to USMA 24 years ago this forum was around- I’m sure my mom would have been on here daily. And I wish when I became a PMS I was quicker to embrace the potential here, for recruiting and helping HS kids.

For the students browsing this forum. Ask good questions, use the search bar, but first ask the ROO at the school you want to go to. They are there for you. My ROO spends 1000s of hours helping kids. He doesn’t care (well, I don’t) which school you attend. Its a win for the Army. I’ve accidentally recruited more for West Point than my school during PMS interviews (including his son!).

For current cadets. Seriously dude- ask your cadre. There are a few ROOs on here and me. Everyone else will provide an opinion. Your cadre will tell you the truth. Don’t be afraid of them. If you are, you should have come to Montana State University. We are approachable.

Finally - the Army is awesome. At the end of the day, Active, Guard, Reserve, there are Soldiers looking for a leader and thats you. A leader who cares about their Soldiers, a leader willing to do whatever it takes to get the mission done, a leader who is ready to lead. USMA (or any SA) or ROTC, that leader is you. Embrace it. Love it. Be humble. Lead.

and Finally v2– winning matters. America demands it.

@Montana State Army ROTC, thank you so much for serving and leading. It’s been reassuring to have your deep knowledge, firm opinions and pithy posts here on SAF — whether it was about ROTC in particular or Big Army in general. We’re all richer for having had your presence all these years.

I wish you the best and truly have enjoyed your posts and appreciate what insight and leadership you have shown candidates and parents.
Being a Navy mom I wish you fair winds and following seas. And know you will be missed.
Enjoy your next adventure!!!!

Fair winds and following seas to you, soon-to-be Army veteran. You have always been such a solid and straight-shooting “primary source” here on SAF. Your impact here is immeasurable; I am sure hundreds of active posters and “lurkers” have been helped by your posts, along with all the shiny new 2nd Lieutenants you delivered into the Army.

There is life after the DD-214. Once you settle into your next role, please join the many veterans who mentor others in transition through Veterati, American Corporate Partners, eMentor. Join us on hikes and rucks and yoga (!) with Team Red White and Blue in a chapter near you. Check out The Mission Continues to join with fellow vets in community service projects. There are thousands of veteran non-profits these days doing good work in so many areas. The camaraderie and sense of servant leadership are alive and well.

Best wishes for success and enjoyment in your next role.

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement/transition. Thank you for your service and your participation on SAF. Your posts are the go-to source for AROTC information. I know my DS greatly benefited from reading all of your contributions.

The SAF will be talking about and referencing @Montana State Army ROTC for many years to come. Hopefully you can get your new PMS to engage in the forum and carry on the legend of Montana State Army ROTC!

Best of luck in your next phase and God Speed!

Big shoes to fill...you will be missed. But your posts and expertise will pop up as a guide for years to come. Pretty cool, imo.

CONGRATS on your soon to occur retirement! Many of us here are there, or fast approaching that milestone. ENJOY!!
