I think I am done here. I’m on short final to retirement and my replacement has finally been named. My usefulness is quickly expiring as I will be out of the official loop come the fall semester.
For the moderators— you guys are awesome. This forum is amazing and I wish when I applied to USMA 24 years ago this forum was around- I’m sure my mom would have been on here daily. And I wish when I became a PMS I was quicker to embrace the potential here, for recruiting and helping HS kids.
For the students browsing this forum. Ask good questions, use the search bar, but first ask the ROO at the school you want to go to. They are there for you. My ROO spends 1000s of hours helping kids. He doesn’t care (well, I don’t) which school you attend. Its a win for the Army. I’ve accidentally recruited more for West Point than my school during PMS interviews (including his son!).
For current cadets. Seriously dude- ask your cadre. There are a few ROOs on here and me. Everyone else will provide an opinion. Your cadre will tell you the truth. Don’t be afraid of them. If you are, you should have come to Montana State University. We are approachable.
Finally - the Army is awesome. At the end of the day, Active, Guard, Reserve, there are Soldiers looking for a leader and thats you. A leader who cares about their Soldiers, a leader willing to do whatever it takes to get the mission done, a leader who is ready to lead. USMA (or any SA) or ROTC, that leader is you. Embrace it. Love it. Be humble. Lead.
and Finally v2– winning matters. America demands it.
