I think you will find concensus here on this forum that the xROTC on line tools are less robust. Often, scholarship winners find out via U.S. mail that they have earned a scholarship while their on line status still shows "incomplete". I can speak from personal experience that this was the case with my DS.
They are updated in what appears to be a batch process. So often, you will see this forum light up with a lot of people learning of the decision at approximately the same time. Then things will go quiet until the next board's results are input into the system.
This lack of real time accuracy can be nerve wracking. If the PO says everything is in and taken care of, then I suggest you and your son sit back and wait.
