Saw an interesting post on the USNA forum and thought it would be great to pass the time waiting for USAFA appointments.

I would love to know what all of these amazing candidates have as Plan B options!

My DS has a type 7 AFROTC to UCONN in Mechanical Engineering so far. Still waiting on some other schools as well as USAFA.

Type 7 and offers to a few schools. May convert it to Type 2.

Waiting another week or so before making more concrete plans.

My DS has a Type 7 AFROTC which he would convert to a Type 2 for University of Colorado or Iowa State for Aerospace Engineering, still waiting on a couple other schools.

Ahh, the long wait.

Be careful when you sign all the papers. Some schools will re-work your FA package when they find out someone else is paying the tuition bill. It costs schools NOTHING to have another butt in the seat. They get around this by saying "Free Tuition" and then you're stuck with $12k bill for bad food and an XL twin bed.

My DS has a AFROTC Type 7. He plans on attending a state university if he does not get into the SA. He applied to two universities and found out last week he was offered admission to one of them. We are still waiting to see if he will get accepted to the other one. USAFA is his first choice though!

DS has AROTC 4-year scholarship to his first choice civilian school, with acceptance in hand and registration weekend fast approaching. USMA is his first choice but if appointed to USAFA and not USMA, he will have a big decision to make. Haven't heard from either SA yet.

DS had a Type 2 for literally 1 day before he lost it due to a medical DQ.
That would of been his plan A coupled with his first choice university.
Fortunately, he still has two other great options.

I've got a Type 1 to either Arizona State University or Embry Riddle Prescott for Aerospace Engineering.
She would be ERAU Prescott, too!

My sons' good friend spent his first year at ERAU-Prescott, due to a snafu on the part of his MOC's staff. He was the principal for the following year and graduated with my sons in 2012. He liked EU, but he LOVED USAFA.

My DD had a 4-year AROTC scholarship to the University of Michigan. She didn't end up completing her AFROTC scholarship app because she got an appointment to the USAFA relatively early in the process.

Getting accepted into Michigan EA was a huge help because she ended up not applying to other schools that were plans D, E, F, etc... and it save us from having to pay the application fees.

DS was accepted to LSU and LA Tech has partial scholarships to both. Plans to attend one and reapply to all academies and NROTC if no SA or SAPS

Because of your comment I went back to DS's financial paperwork for Texas A&M to see and sure enough one of the little scholarships they "reserve the right to reduce this award in the future if necessary". He has now been awarded the 4 year NROTC so I'm a tad concerned.
