USNA Class of 2027 Waitlist: Team Hopeful

I received an email offering me a spot into NAPS. I can’t believe it because I know that there is a waiting list for NAPS and they still offered me a spot. I’m sorry for everyone that got a TWE, but reapply if you want to. I am a reapplicant and made it, so you guys can do it too!

Congrats!!! That's awesome news!!!

This happened to me as well. I’m also wondering the same thing.
When my son was on the WL, there were a couple of these ‘work throughs’ of the WL. It was funneled down a couple times. At the end there were only a few left. The last person appointed from our group, was a couple days before Iday.

They ask you if you want to stay on, bc you may want to move on.

It means you are so close. And potentially, if numbers allow, you *may* receive an appointment. Or, you may not.

My empathy is there with all of the applicants and their families as they navigate this. I totally understand how difficult it is to navigate these last minute waters and the unknowns.

For those who didn’t get the result they desired this time, know that there are many in your situation. Talented, qualified, stellar, unique human beings who are competing for limited seats at the table. This will feel like crap now, but please know if you were in it to this point, you had the stuff. The real deal.

If your path aligns with another application, consult with your admission rep and ask for ways to improve.

Kudos to all of the applicants who have gone through this process. Growth has happened regardless of the outcome.

Just checked my portal and got turned down.. Excited to start my plan B at Northeastern, completely different path. Best of luck to everyone else competing for admissions and thank you to all that have answered and helped me on the forum over the past year. It’s been a good one!
Northeastern is very hard to get into. Congratulations!

Wow, definitely purging. My DS also just turned down. She was a blue chip recruited athlete, with everything else in line - grades, MOC, medical approval etc. She walked away from other coaches due to this. Navy not having an ED doesn't allow kids to get an answer earlier and try to scramble and put something else together if god for bid this happens. We felt pretty comfortable that we could trust the coaches/admissions people at USNA. Would think they would be very ethical and aware of reputation. As a marketing person, I see it as a very bad look. Good luck to all on this forum. You have carried me through this painful and long process. At least we have an answer.
I am so sorry to hear this. I get it with an athlete at USNA....it is so hard when you put your eggs in this basket praying you get in!!! we had 1 girl in my daughters class that did not get in either her year for her sport. But she did get foundation school and came the next year. I am praying for your girl and hope she finds a place. I would have her reach out to all the coaches that initially recruited her, you just never know if they have a spot - all would understand her motivation to come to USNA, so by saying she did not get off the waitlist and is looking for an opportunity would not be weird. we had 1 player leave USNA at thanksgiving she called the coaches that initially recruited her and she landed at one of those schools. I wish her the very best and hope she finds a place to play her sport and continue her academics!!!

First, the SAs can’t habe an ED process, primarily due to the need for noms and the medical clearance required. Their “answer” is the LOA. Even for blue chips, there are only so many chips a coach has (no pun intended). Whether fair or not, football has more than, say women’s golf or co-Ed sailing.

I’ve had this happen years ago with coaches giving a candidate more hope than warranted. It’s my personal belief, they do it for the right reasons but it can have unintended negative consequences, as it did for your DD.

My $0.02 is that, if you’re a recruited athlete and not given an LOA, all bets are off. You still have a good shot, but there’s no guarantee. Pursue other options. If playing your sport is most important, then go somewhere where you can do it on scholarship. If USNA is most important, then join the rest of the folks in doing your best and hoping for the best.
