AFJROTC Nomination Questions

Hello! I am currently applying for USAFA, but I'm having some confusion about how nominations through a AFJROTC unit work. I have a few questions regarding AFJROTC nominations to the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). Specifically:

1. Does the AFJROTC unit need to currently be distinguished in order to apply for a nomination, or is it sufficient if the unit has been distinguished in the past?
2. If applying for a nomination to USAFA only, is it a requirement for the AFJROTC unit to be distinguished, or is that requirement exclusive to nominations for other service academies?

Any insights or advice related to this part of the application would be greatly appreciated!

For #1 as of my understanding it needs to be distinguished as of last academic year, that's the document that they will request.
For #2 yes the AFJROTC unit has to be distinguished or higher in order to obtain a nomination for USAFA. For the nomination to apply for other SA's it has to be Distinguished unit w/merit

Thank you a lot for the clarification! Unfortunately, my AFJROTC unit did not receive the Distinguished Unit Order in the 23-24 school year, so I will have to look for other avenues to get a nomination.

If you didn't start the nomination process for your Congressman or Congresswoman (Representative and Senators) by now, you may have to reapply next year, as deadlines to apply to different ways of getting a nomination have already passed. Best of luck to you in the future though!

Thank you for the kind words! I'm looking through all my options to see if applying this year is still possible, but I'll be sure to keep this in mind.

This is just one of the nomination avenues I am looking at, I have applied for other nominations but it never hurts to check all your options when you have the chance.

Since you have applied to other nomination sources (I'm assuming your MOC's), you still have a good chance.
