    Pullups: 11
    Situps: 74
    Basketball Throw: 71
    Mile: 6:43
    Shuttle run: 8.6 seconds
    Pushups: 44

I'm aware that there are no published minimums, I am asking for your guys' opinion. I'm afraid I failed because of pushups, however, I believe I exceeded the averages in almost all the other categories. Am I fine? Thank you!

If you exceeded the averages, then you probably passed.

But I didn't for pushups. Am I still fine? The average is 54 and I got 44.

From what I've read on here, I think the better you do on the other events, the more wiggle room you'll have on the one you don't do well on.

Don’t be satisfied until you can perform above-average on each and every event. My DD didn’t submit her scores until she could do just that. SA appointment process is hard enough — and competition is challenging enough — that you shouldn’t settle for “good enough.” I guarantee you others are not.

@muyepic1234, see USMA CFA stats on this doc:

    https://www.usma.edu/admissions/Shared Documents/CFA_Instructions.pdf

Your sit-ups are just 2 better than average, mile is right on average, and yes, push-ups are 10 worse than average. (And USMA puts most weight on upper-body strength.)

If you’re fine with that — because the rest of your package is spectacular — move on. If you were my kid, I’d advise you to go hit the gym.

Should I be fine then? I
I also was above average in the shuttle run and the basketball throw substantially. With that in consideration will the fact that I was 10 below for pushups render my CFA test a failure?

I don’t know the cutoff line, @muyepic1234, but perhaps someone else does. I doubt your score is a “fail.”

But my advice has more to do with “settling” if you know with more effort that you can do better. You’re trying to win appointment to USMA, to eventually be commissioned as an officer. You need to decide what your standard of success will be.

As mentioned, upper-body strength is highly valued at USMA. If you want to be the candidate — or if fortunate enough, the plebe — whose push-ups were 10 below average, that’s certainly your prerogative.

@MidCakePa how do you know that USMA cares the most about upper body strength?

Heard it directly from alumni and admissions people. And it's been said many times on this forum by alumni and cadets. Upper-body strength and mile run are most indicative of ability to do what cadets do at West Point.

USMA has an obstacle course that is upper body intensive and must be completed each year and is a graduation requirement. Search IOCT and you will find a video. The video does not really do it justice, it is a Beast to complete in the time limit.

Make sure you look for the trash cans at the finish line.

I’ve heard many things about the air quality in that gym and the havoc it wreaks on your lungs.

Urban Legend is that they purposely pump in asbestos filled air. DPE the department with a heart.
