How will ROTC work with coronavirus and quarantine?

Yeay, glad someone saw my message! I thought it was super informative, too. Sooo....you bought tickets already? DS's ROO said they're planning on the August start, but I'm hesitant. I guess worst case scenario would be we'd drop at the door like at the SAs???
Yes, everything is refundable, except air which can be rebooked for up to two years free of charge (southwest). Figured we’d plan for the best case scenario and adjust as needed.

Ok, you're inspiring me to book some tickets and hotel. ;)

My recommendation to a Cadet would be stay in shape, push yourself physically and intellectally. If you don't have a gym set up (I don't) build one (my son constructed one out of old tires/rims, a couple of pieces of pipe and some scrap wood - now he has a bench press, squat rack and pull up bar). Be ready to return to campus fit and motivated to learn. Remember, there were USMA and USNA classes that had accelerated graduations in both World Wars, so cherish the remaining time you have on campus, make the best of online learning, and educate yourself about the profession of arms (go to the Chairman of JCS reading list, or the reading list for the CSA or CNO etc. for suggestions). Motivate and prepare yourself to lead in difficult times. Dealing with Covid19 is nothing compared to leading troops in theater.

I dont think you put Purdue on the list which they have said they will open

I was just going to post the same thing. It looks like the Cal State system only has three colleges that include Rotc so it isnt going to be that huge of a problem. Ironically enough, its the Univ of California schools (UCLA, Berkley, etc) which is its own system, has more Rotc detachments.

Wear your masks and hope for the best!

Just to clarify, is your list copied from the link you also provided. Thanks for the efforts here.

^ Yes the source for the above list is the searchable list which is linked above, from the trade publication, The Chronicle of Higher Education.
However, the download file (.csv) for the Chronicle's published list doesn't download properly.

Thanks @THmom. That was a very informative briefing. Sounds like, for incoming AROTC freshmen, they are considering a few things for students at institutions that go online:

1. Work with the school to allow ROTC cadets on campus.
2. Have the cadets take online classes at home and conduct training with a unit closest to their home.
3. Push some training to spring, when schools will hopefully reopen.

It didn’t sound like they had everything ironed out yet, which isn’t surprising given the dynamic nature of the situation. So far DS isn’t affected, as his school has announced it will be open for business in the fall. But, we’ll see. Just bought plane tickets, reserved a hotel, and are planning to drop him off in three months. Nice to know Cadet Command is thinking about contingency plans in case the school changes it’s mind.
You're cadet is not at UGA is he/her? Our son will be...supposed to be open.

Update...Notre Dame plans to return in fall barring no setbacks. Moving start of semester up, no fall break, ending semester by Thanksgiving so that students dont go home on breaks or for Thanksgiving and return to campus with possible exposure.

UPDATED - added Auburn, U. Nevada Las Vegas, Notre Dame, Mississippi State and U. Southern Mississippi to list of "definitely plan to re-open this fall" and U. of Mississippi to list of "plan to announce by end of June":

University of South Carolina will open in the Fall (all ROTC branches) as will The Citadel (all ROTC branches, active duty MECEPS, and Navy). Not coincidently, the University of South Carolina is headed by a 3 Star Army General and former Sup at USMA, and The Citadel by a 4 Star Marine General and former Assistant Commandant of the USMC. The university plans on a shortened Fall semester that will end at Thanksgiving so as not to have students return to campus from 50 states possibly with infections. Delaying a decision is just not fair to student.
