Official USAFAPS (Prep School) Class of 2013 Appointment thread

Awesome. So much paperwork. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me!

If you stay focused and haven't left the country, or moved, numerous times, then you should be able to get it done in a few hours.

Good to hear. So are we going to get this in the mail? Or am I going to have to go buy a ton of printer paper? haha

Yea, I was wondering the same thing. The message on the portal wasn't very specific. I think I'm going to end up just printing it (because I don't have to do the SF86), but you might want to give them a call.

You will get the entire booklet in the mail. Also, if you look at the letter that precedes the security questionnaire you should find a website listed. You can complete the questionnaire online and then print it out to bring with you.

Thanks for clearing that up for us, Insider. I'm definitely going to give that online form a look.

Security clearance is a big issue, it will reoccur every 5 yrs, and in your case again the yr you commission.

Waste the money on ink and paper because everyone that has ever served AD will tell you this is worth it. In your C1C yr you can either cut and paste because you kept it, or will have to start from scratch. Any date discrepancy from the original may cause a red flag. In 5 yrs from now, your memory of dates will blur compared to your current memory.

In the 20 yrs Bullet served AD, he kept hard copies at home in our fire safe lock box. He hand carried them with us on every PCS.

That is the norm for AD members.

He is up for his 5 yr TS security clearance again this fall (OCT) as an AF GS at the Pentagon. Today I pulled out his entire AFAD hard copy medical records dating back to 1987.

Computers crash! Do not assume saving it on your computer is good enough. Hard copies saved can be scanned into the new computer.

DS1 will commission on 5/26 with a TS, it was 50+ pages of printing, but it is now in a fire safe lockbox JIC. Actually, he has it on his computer, a hard copy, and we have a hard copy in our fire safe lockbox too. Redundancy in this scenario is a good thing!

I recall looking at this form...does anyone have the site address?
Thanks in advance!

Does anybody know when the we priors will be receiving our "Instructions to Prep School Appointee Packages" in the mail as well as further information about the plane tickets from our bases to the Academy?

My DS just got his package today. I don't know if the airline information was in there though. He didn't mention it. I know he has his first out processing meeting tomorrow.

For those of you that have received the BFE, on pg 22 (USAFA Prepatory School In-Processing Worksheet) there is a space for 'Academy P.O. Box Number'.

What goes here? There is no mention of a P.O. Box number anywhere else in the instructions. Anybody have any ideas?

On the front of DS's booklet, on the label under his name, there is a number. That is his PO Box. Hope that helps.

Hmmm, I don't see a label. It's on the front of the Instructions to Appointee booklet you say? There's nothing there for me.

It might be different for the prep school.

I did not see PO Box number anywhere on prep school package either so mailed in form with that field blank. Figure it will be issued during in-processing.

I haven't gotten my packet yet so I cannot post whether or not my package has a PO box number on it. I have, however, received my itinerary for my flight to CO Springs.

I'll call my ALO to get an answer to the question once I receive my packet and I'll let you know what he says.

If it is anything like last year (things change every year) my DD received her PO Box during BMT and they give you an opportunity to send a card with the PO Box on it home. I believe it was the end of the first week. Hope that helps.

By admissions certificate, are you referring to the large package full of forms that you get in the mail? Or are you referring to the certificate they give you at your graduation when they present you the scholarship?

She's referring to the Acceptance Certificate I believe. I received it from my Commander a few weeks ago, kind of weird you didn't get it yet!
