Just curious, does anyone know how the option to commission in the Marines works at KP? Do they go through OCS after graduation? PLC due to the crazy Kings Point schedule? Or Leatherneck? I thought Leatherneck was for USNA. Do MIDN join USNA for Leatherneck? Also how is it determined which billets they will receive?

Some help with your last question. All new Marine officers eventually end up at The Basic School, TBS, at Quantico. Unless the new 2LT has an air contract, the MOS selection process and subsequent orders occurs at TBS.

Someone else on this forum may know more. What I know is that USMMA grads who go active duty Marines now take the same route as USNA graduates. Also, there is a small group of Midshipmen at KP who plan to go into the Marines who regularly work out together.

If it's the same as USNA, does that mean that they go to Leatherneck? If so, when do MIDN at USMMA do Leatherneck? How long is Leatherneck for MIDN at USMMA?

Leatherneck is usually done between your 2/C and 1/C Summer at Quantico. It is 4 weeks long. Hopefully a current or recent grad can chime in if things have changed, but based upon the USNA website it appears to not have.

I don't know all of the details, but, there is a leatherneck option. That option can be impacted by sea year however, depending on split and days needed. Sometimes leatherneck can occur after graduation. This year, however, leatherneck was made not an option due to covid i presume, and anyone not having already attended leatherneck would have been required to go OCS. I know of at least one usmc flight who needed leather neck shifted to usna flight as a result.
