Hi! I am planning a trip to USAFA the weekend after parents weekend to visit my brother at the academy! What are the regulations on this? I have no background knowledge on how the visits work.

It will be his freshman year (He is in BCT currently). Am I able to spend a couple of hours with him? How much time? Even if its on campus, etc.? Any advice or any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so so much!:)

Terrific that you're thinking of your brother. He cannot have visitors until Acceptance Day. Don't even try to contact him - it could bring unwanted attention from his trainers. To support your brother, send him letters! Real snail mail is GOLD to basic cadets!

Depending on the specific weekend will change some things. If it is a training weekend, you will likely be limited to a few hours on Friday/Saturday, and most of Sunday. If it is a free weekend, well Friday night until Sunday night. Additionally, since he will be a 4-deg, there is a possibility that his squadron will restrict him, which would limit y'all to staying on base. However, if you make plans with him as soon as he gets out of basic, he can send up paperwork to ensure that he can leave base that weekend, provided there isn't training.

Sorry, that was a lot of words, but feel free to PM me if you have more questions!

The weekend after PW looks to be a Blue weekend. The only thing on that weekend's calendar is Cadet Religious Retreats so it may well be a good weekend to visit. As jwest182 said, make sure he gets paperwork started right after BCT to have permission for that weekend.

Much, too, will depend on your brother's squadron's rules. Remember, though he'll be out of BCT, he's still not "recognized" and there may be stringent limitations on visits, and on visitors. He may not be allowed off The Hill, so clear all that before you make big plans.

A reminder: it's not "regular college."

Have to add emphasis on him putting up paperwork. That way he won't even have to worry about the possibility of being stuck on base and it will make his life a lot easier. As a new freshman it can be intimidating trying to figure out the paperwork, but don't let him not do it, it will make your lives a lot easier.
