VMI STP and Scholarship

Hello everyone,
I have a questions about VMI's Summer Transition Program with an AROTC 4 year scholarship. Starting to apply to VMI next Thursday when the app opens and have been competing for the scholarship. VMI is my #1 and hopefully will win a scholarship and get it assigned there, applying for first board to increase chances. My question is, if I am fortunate to win the scholarship and attend VMI, if I do the Summer Transition Program, will the scholarship cover tuition for it? Take this with a grain of salt, because I am not sure of the answer. My DS just started at VMI on a 4yr NROTC MO scholarship. We had to pay for or take a loan to cover the first semester since the scholarship does not kick in until you sign paperwork (which he did at matriculation) and pass the PRT, which I understand he will take in September. So, I think the scholarship would not cover STP since it would not have kicked in yet. I do not know the cost and details of STP since my DS had committed to a summer job and didn't do STP.

I assume since VMI is your #1 you have visited and know a lot about the school. If not, go see it and learn as much as you can. Good luck.

Yes I have visited multiple times, interviewed, met with AROTC briefly, attend the open house in a month, and am trying to do my PMS interview there. Thank you for the information. I do have a follow up question if you dont mind. So if you sign at matriculation, and you took out that loan you mentioned, did you actually have to pay first semester tuition, scholarship reimburse, etc? How does that end up working out. Thanks for your reply!
 
With the Army ROTC scholarship accounting will know about the scholarship and it should be reflected on your bill in Post View (obviously provided you get accepted and a scholarship) you would be responsible for the balance. FalconA may better be able to answer as his son is at VMI on a 4 year AROTC scholarship. My son is there on a 3 year AROTC and his bill for this semester reflected the scholarship so we did not have to pay upfront.

It does not cover STP to the best of my knowledge, again FalconA could best answer that.

As far as the book stipend, that doesn't come until October so you would have to front that money.

I agree with all above. 4 yr AROTC does not cover VMI STP.
