I applied for nomination to USMMA with Souzzi/NY. I haven't heard back, but my USMMA application portal updated to Nomination/YES yesterday. Just an FYI to those waiting to hear from him, he may have communicated directly to SAs, you might want to check your portal.
Congrats!

I haven’t heard of anyone getting nom from Suozzi this year for USNA yet. I think he just released USAFA and USMMA noms since there are most likely less applicants; therefore less time needed for their office to decide.
Call his office

Just called Congressman Suozzi's office. They have a list of USNA noms but just didn't send out the letters yet. I was told this year was a very competitive pool of candidates to choose from. If you call I am sure you can find out earlier than waiting for your portal to update or letter.

I called and unfortunately wasn't offered a nomination from his office. I also applied to Senator Schumer & Gillibrand as well as for the VP nom with no word back from any of them. I think I've seen people getting noms from NY senators already so it seems very unlikely for me especially since I couldn't compete within my own district. Seems like I will not be receiving a nomination this year but I am still hopeful for something like an appointment to NAPS or prep; even if it is unlikely.

The lady from Suozzi's office was helpful, she told me how my application was lacking grades wise compared to other candidates, with a 90 GPA & 1210 SAT. My coarse load was good with AP's and Honors just a lower GPA and a SAT that I need to improve for next year. I defiantly recommend calling not just to find out if you got the nomination but to find out what to improve if you didn't get a nomination from his office. Sounds like a lot of good applicants out there and most applicants that received noms from Suozzi's office had GPA's in the 98+ range I was told. I asked what I could improve on for next year and told her that I will defiantly be back next year as an improved applicant with emphasis on my grades / SAT.

Disappointing news but I still got years to develop and reapply. Time to start investing more time into researching into my backup plans. Good luck to all and congrats to anyone who received noms.

Such a helpful and detailed post you made! Great advice on calling the MOCs office directly for feedback on the application. You'll go on to great things. Also, very impressed with your proper use of the semi-colon (most never use it; or use it incorrectly). Ha ha. ;)

You are total CLASS and because of that you will achieve your goals. All the best.

P.S. give the ACT a shot, you may score higher than the SAT, It worked for me.

Speaking of Plan Bs, did you apply for AF, Navy and Army ROTC Scholarships?

Only applied to USNA because I believe the other branches wouldn't have suited me for my career aspirations. Plus I heard there is more opportunity to travel in the Navy. I just think the Navy or Marine Corps fits me best for wanting to become a pilot and wanting to travel. I started NROTC-MO scholarship application but didn't finish it. Looking to pursue PLC with an aviation contract or enlist as active/reserves.

Understood, same here, I want to fly. I also applied to Purdue University, they are #1 for aviation and have Navy ROTC there as well. My uncle is a commercial airline captain, he said a bunch of new hire pilots came from Embry-Riddle, FIT and Purdue.

For NY-21'ers: Is your nomination reflected in your portal? I was notified of my nom more than a month ago, but still no change in portal status.

Right, I forgot about early action. Good luck to your kid- he’s obviously a stud to get into Princeton. If mine ends up there, he said he would look at ROTC at Rutgers for Navy. I don’t think he would turn down a USNA appointment though.

In my DS's case, even after he saw the acceptance letter on his Princeton portal, his first reaction was still "I'm going to West Point". it was really after his deep digging into the Princeton curricula, he started to be like "let me think about this a little more."
