Hey I’m applying to the USNA and I live in NY District 3 (Tom Suozzi). I applied for Senator Schumer and Gillibrand’s nomination as well as Representative Suozzi’s. I figured I’d make this thread for any additional information or tips on nominations in NY. I heard that it’s a lot harder to get the Senators nomination especially in NY but does anyone know if NY District-3 is competitive? Do most people get scheduled for interviews and if you do, when do you find out if you got the nom?
We're close, haha, I'm in District 6. I applied for Senator Schumer and my congresswoman Meng. As their deadline is Nov 1, I think we'll hear from them in the early November. I don't know if my district is competitive too.

I'm not sure. My LOR were also submitted and checkmarked the same day my application questionnaire was checkmarked.
Ah I see thank you! I'm just waiting on the LORs and my teacher was like "I'll send it on the weekend" and I'm kinda scared it'll take a long time to verify but I don't wanna be rude and tell her to submit right now

Senator Padilla keeps sending reminders that DS file is incomplete due to missing LORs but recommenders indicated they sent more than once (because DS keeps asking them also). The recommenders said the system didn't send back confirmation vs Senator Feinstein's email system which confirmed back immediately. Recommenders said they were careful to follow the email format.

DS emailed serviceacademies@padilla.senate.gov to ask alternate methods of sending.

Thoughts?

We had an automated email from Senator Padilla this morning that says everything is complete, except the Questionnaire, which has a green tick mark by it and was sent in weeks ago. I will email them today. I have a feeling at 2300 on Monday all of a sudden everything will be competed for all of us!.
I don't have any recommendations for the missing LORs, unless you call the office? I have the same issue in USNA, things that were sent in and received weeks ago that do not show up as being received.

DD got the same email this morning. Her LORs have been submitted and it still says under review on the website and the email this morning says incomplete. I don’t know what they’re reviewing! DD hates to bother her recommenders again!

Thank you all for your replies. We also didn't want to bother the recommenders again and thought it was just us this was happening to.

I'll ask DS to call Senator Padilla's ofc. No one replied to the email yet.

I'm just worried it's Halloween weekend and people may be itching to get away from the ofc early (^_^)

Curious if any folks from NJ have heard anything from either senator Booker or Menendez?

DS hasn’t received any email or text since his nomination applications were completed in early Oct.

Did you DS get any updates from Padilla’s office? We weren’t sure what number to call. There’s about 5!

This was last year's timeline of correspondence for me. After you submit your applications and receive confirmation, their offices become streamlined into one nominating body. Meaning you'll only interview with one office for both of them. Think of it as a slate of 20 instead of two slates of 10.

Application due: 10/16
Confirmation of completed app and interview dates: 10/28 (Booker) 10/30 (Menendez)
Assignment of interview date: 11/12
Interview: 11/21
Results: Never heard back. Unless nominated by them, you won't hear anything.

Actually, both offices combine to run the interviews and jointly organize the day with the interview teams, etc.

Small world. I'm also in NY District 3. I've heard that our area is pretty competitive for USNA and USMA but not as competitive for USAFA. I submitted the senators' and Suozzi application last week and yesterday I got the date for my Suozzi interview.

No Reply. Since DS was in school today and deadline is Nov 1, I filed a formal casework with Senator Padilla's office. Based on the form, caseworks seem to be processed from his San Diego office. So if you're calling, maybe call there.

Since we're in NorCal I called his SF and Sacramento offices multiple times. No one answered, you get a machine with exactly the same recording. I left a message briefly describing the issue and my callback number. No one has called back yet - so I filed a casework. Just so they know we tried to find a resolution before the deadline. One recommender sent the LOR four times, the other sent two times starting from early October.

Ok well I'm glad its not just us! We're in Northern California too! DD didn't ask to have the LORs sent again. Maybe she should have. Did the questionaire get a green check mark?

Come Monday, the plan is to CC: the casework email in addition to the serviceacademies email if the staff still doesn't respond or update the OAM portal with completed status. Also thinking of faxing the LOR to the San Diego number.

This saga is turning out to be "A Mesage to Garcia" story I read from Lt Kirkland's ROTC book.

No green on Questionnaire verification but the other one has a green for Questionnaire submitted.
