I've been around for 8 yrs which doesn't grant me any special treatment but you're definitely pushing the bounds of the rudest someone has ever been to me on this forum. Congrats!

Wow, ok. Sorry for asking you to actually put your question in the right place.

BTW, the "8 year" comment was to the @A1Janitor person and not you, but whatever makes you feel better.

Also keep in mind that the 2026 Nom thread can easily be searched for the term "Durbin" as opposed to "sifting" through the entire thread. As you have been around for 8 years you already knew but you just forgot, right? 😉

Same thing here, so you are not alone. In USAFA section even:

Should post this question here:

For New Jersey, does anyone know if Senator nomination interviews are in person or virtual? Thank you.

Thank you for the replies. My senators mention something about both their interviews being held at “the same location” which made me unsure

Thanks. Hope you're enjoying your time on the mountain. My second USMA grad enjoyed his time there and looks back at that extra time as a blessing.
Thank you! I'm loving it here finally getting into a nice rhythm after over a month. Too bad it s right a true end. I'm gonna really miss my team here. Especially those not going to USAFA.

Heard it’s going to be virtual. Either today or tomorrow, the senator’s office will send another email about the details.

I believe I am caught up, but maybe not. Nevertheless, if this has been answered before, I apologize for the same request.

1. Have any NY applicants heard back from Gillibrand/Schumer?
2. My congressman has scheduled all the interviews for the same day. I have been notified that I am first up on the chopping block.... should I be happy or worried about that? Of course I am going to go into it with full confidence, but just being the FIRST one makes you wonder....
nope, haven't heard from them yet :/

Update in NV, heard back from Masto that application has been verified! Got interview date set for Rosen on Dec 4th.

Two weeks ago Senator Warner (Virginia) contacted candidates for an interview, including two of my son's classmates. Yesterday the rest of the students at his high school who are candidates for various service academies received an email from Senator Warner stating they were not selected for an interview. My son never contacted at all. His application was complete, verified by the emails that he received from Senator Warner's office that materials were received. Any ideas as to why he would not have been contacted either way?

Check the portal to make sure his checklist says everything is completed, they may still be sending out the reject emails. Everyone who was contacted for an interview or being selected to move on was already told. Sorry. Hopefully he gets a nom from another source! It’s not the end of the road!

For those of you waiting to hear back, settle in for a long wait. Our DS interviewed for 2024 In mid November that cycle. He heard back just before Christmas. Others that cycle didn't hear anything re nominations in other states until late January. Then there is the wait for appointments. One on the forum didn't hear until early June that cycle.
Get used to waiting. Spend time with family and friends. Good luck!
Was this for AZ? Just wondering since I had my interview with Sen Sinema's board last week and I have two this weekend (Sen Kelly and my Rep) and I'm already stressed with checking my email and portals every day, but if decisions usually come out around Christmas that is helpful to know.

Slates aren’t due until the end of the year. Some MOC’s submit sooner, others have actually been a little late. You can Google your MOC’s ‘service academy nominations’ (or other/similar search), for prior years, and see when they *generally* release their announcement of nominations. Often, they issue a press release of names.

After a nomination is received, I will still take a while to recover word of an appointment, or not.

Best advice, is to NOT check daily. That will make the time drag on even longer. Put it all aside, and work on your back up plans. Be present in, and celebrate, your senior year!! It’s a fantastic culmination of your K-12 years of schooling. You don’t get a do-over of this last year. Make it a good one!!

And maybe check your portal once a week 😬. You won’t miss anything. And it’s less stressful.

Good luck!!

I believe elected officials’ nomination slates are due to the SAs by 31 January each year. Some submit early, some on time, and no doubt some are late (but they still count). Notifications of nominations can be done any way the elected official wishes, from phone call to email to snail mail - or nothing at all, and one morning your portal simply reflects a nomination.

Appointment offers start flowing in greater volume once slates are resolved, when college re-applicants get their first semester grades in, when academy and civilian prepsters get their grades and other evaluations in, as DoDMERB issues get ironed out, anytime between now and April, with some going into May or early June. Elected officials are notified of appointments being offered, a few days in advance of the SA notifying the applicant, and once again, they can choose to notify the applicant by any means (answer strange phone calls!), or not do anything at all.

Just to give an example of what @Capt MJ has stated. My DS received nominations from his representative to all three academies mid December. He received his appointment to USNA a few days later. His appointment to USAFA came late May. All his applications were completed in early September. Only admissions and your nomination source can tell you for sure how and when this will all play out, if they even know. IT is kind of like juggling.

Anyone interviewing in CA yet? Haven't received an actual interview schedule. One MOC sent a practice "mock interview" to DS. It was stated as practice only to get feedback and in no way affects actual application. Is this common? If they're so busy, why do mock interviews at all?

Was the mock interview from your local person?
