Yes, neither of the Illinois Senators held interviews
Wowwwww that's just really unfair and really irresponsible on the panels part if that's true. I'd be furious if I spent the time with essays and putting a packet for me to not even be sent an email or be notified that I haven't been selected or even worse in this case they didn't hold interviews... That's kind of unacceptable.

Has anyone heard from Gillibrand's office? I had an interview on December 9th and I haven't heard anything since. I get the same answer every time I call the New York or Long Island Office "Can I have your information so I can forward it to the person in charge of the service academy nominations" It's really frustrating that no one at either office has an answer, I'm being persistent because I was told 2 weeks after the interview I'd have an answer, but to no avail....

At least in NJ, this is standard for senators. I heard nothing from Menendez’s office but heard here people got nominations. Then on 1 Feb I was called and notified I received a nomination to USAFA from Sen Booker. If you haven’t heard yet I’d assume you have not received a nomination.

A lot of MOCs don't hold interviews. They can run nominations however they choose and often interviews aren't feasible. In TX, Senators don't hold interviews because our state is huge and they have way too many applicants. Instead, they include essays in the application and the candidates have ample opportunity to present themselves accurately.

They read the essays submitted and made choices from there. It’s hard to interview 450 kids in a relatively tight schedule, but it was stated during the application process that there would be no interviews due to how difficult it would be to schedule, so to submit personal statements and answer prewritten questions. They did send notifications of whether or not you received a nomination. Many senators in large states don’t hold interviews for that reason.

Yeah for NJ you only hear back from the Senators if you actually receive a nomination. If not, you hear nothing. Booker's are usually finalized on the deadline (1/31), and Menendez in early-to-mid January.

Elected officials may choose any way they like to conduct their nomination slate selection process, including choosing not to nominate anyone at all, along with interview or not, notify or not, method for slate submission, etc.

In the case where they do not do interviews, they may feel their review panel or assigned staffers have the experience and insight to select the 10 most impressive applications, or however many they choose. They see hundreds (at least) of applications each year, and they are expert at assessing them, since the general tone and scope do not vary that much over the years. From the applicant’s point of view, maybe not ideal, but from the elected official’s point of view, it will be consistent with how they wish to devote their resources and time to constituent issues, their prerogative.

This is very similar to the real world job searching process, where hundreds of resumes flood in for a job, and no interviews might be offered at the initial stages.

When it comes down to just a resume being reviewed at the elected official’s office, it becomes clear that an applicant should be thoughtful and intentional about what they submit, paying careful attention to ATFQ (answer the full question), content, but also to clarity, flow, visual impact, spelling, grammar, punctuation and other factors. A submission riddled with errors may well be quickly tossed into the discard pile, as an indicator the applicant does not pay attention to detail.

Since there are many days left in the exciting journey ahead, you may wish to contemplate editing your user name to “USNACandidate2026.” Or you could use ‘26, as the accepted abbreviated form of the full year, as the apostrophe takes the place of the first two digits. This is certainly an informal forum where typos abound (I suffer from them regularly), but being proper about your dream class year and your dream SA abbreviation should be a starting line practice.

Senator Kaine of Virginia did not hold interviews. He did, however, have a "written interview" in the application. It consisted of answering seven questions in an essay format. It was an arduous task but I was proud of my work. After submitting my application, I heard nothing of my status until January 18 when I received a letter stating that Senator Kaine was unable to offer a nomination to me. Never learned exactly why I did not earn a nom but I like to think it's because I already had a nom from my MOC. The state tries to maximize Virginians with nominations so if you receive a nomination from a state nominating source, you'll likely be denied for another.

If you received a Nom from your Congressman, chances are a Gillibrand Nom "May" be Null & Void.

I'd say that it's too late now to receive any nomination if not already received. If one does magically pop up now, it's an anomaly.

I thought you can get multiple nominations from different sentaors/MOC'S?
In some states, elected officials choose to collaborate and agree to not duplicate names across their slates and/or give only 1 nomination to an SA, even if the applicant indicated they were applying to the 4 SAs which require them. This may happen in states which are highly competitive, traditionally have high numbers of applicants, etc.

Some Senators reach out to the Congressman(MOC's) so they do not both give a nomination to the same candidate. Other Senator's don't, so the candidate could get multiple nominations. It all depends how your Senators and Congressmen choose to coordinate and handle it.

My son received a call from Senator Gillibrand's office on 1/20 I believe letting him know he was being given a nomination to USMA. It showed up in the portal on 2/1.

Anybody from NY get two noms to the same academy?
Would be interested to see replies. It has been posted often here and true for my DS that NY system dictates a candidate cannot have 2 or 3 nominations because they make you bow out/withdrawal your application if you receive one from another source.
The directive of the whole process is if you receive one nomination you’re supposed to inform the others that you received it and then your other applications are stopped.
